Golden Dragon Shining Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) He speaks ten languages and successfully demonstrated he learned a foreign language in just a week! Daniel Tammet’s brain is different and he sees numbers as colors. http://www.messagetoeagle.com/mysterious-brain-of-daniel-tammet-a-scientific-rosetta-stone/ What is the potential of consciousness? this is way beyond the ordinary, does meditation etc opening of the pineal gland etc allow greater access to our conscious? What is limiting this capacity in other humans, why is a "damaged" brain more highly functioning? There are aspects of this that are similar to spiritual experiences, like sounds having colour etc... a lot more information/ dimensions being experienced at once... Bearded Dragon Posted October 17, 2015 Nothing to do with consciousness. This is just in the realm of created phenomena like everything else. It's special because hardly anyone can do it, but does this really make it special?
Golden Dragon Shining Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) is not consciousness the fountain of created phenomena and so everything to do with consciousness? It makes it special being higher functioning and beyond the ordinary at present. Edited October 18, 2015 by Sionnach
Oneironaut Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) Anyone can do what he does with the proper training. Yes, you can train your brain to do exactly what he does. Meditation can only help in terms of increasing concentration and perhaps even quieting the mind to optimize performance. What this guy is doing isn't anything profound on a cosmic level however. Rachel Posted October 25, 2015 I'd highly recommend these two books to anyone interested in the shift that's happening in science towards understanding the relationship between consciousness and the brain: Irreducible Mind: Toward a Psychology for the 21st Century http://www.amazon.com/Irreducible-Mind-Toward-Psychology-Century/dp/1442202068 And the follow up book by the same authors: Beyond Physicalism: Toward Reconciliation of Science and Spirituality http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Physicalism-Reconciliation-Science-Spirituality/dp/1442232382/
