Mal Posted February 2, 2009 Are you here because of me, or am I here because of you? We are here. (I never have a decent ? for this thread so I'll go with this one for mYTHmAKER) "What is the everything that is not Tao."
mYTHmAKER Posted February 2, 2009 We are here. (I never have a decent ? for this thread so I'll go with this one for mYTHmAKER) "What is the everything that is not Tao." Your koan is actually the same as mine - Copycat Just substitute God for Tao. And yes I know the answer.
Mal Posted February 2, 2009 I know you know the answer. I however do not, there is no-thing that is not God. You seem to like that one so I reposted it for you
mYTHmAKER Posted February 2, 2009 I know you know the answer. I however do not, there is no-thing that is not God. You seem to like that one so I reposted it for you Not a question of liking or not liking. Just contemplate it. It's a mind stopper "What is the everything that is not God" It doesn't exist. Having that which is not God or Tao is separation - duality - it's a contradiction How can this be - it can't. Think in terms of atoms - molecules - energy - just different vibrations all from the same source. On a relative plain some things are God and some are not but on the ultimate plain everything is formed from the same stuff i.e God - Tao irregardless of what one believes in. Contemplate it - meditate on it. mYTHmAKER has spoken
Stigweard Posted February 2, 2009 But if God is merely a concept of the mind then everything that is not God is No-mind Contemplate it - meditate on it. The Stigmeister has spoken If Virtue is the virtue of the virtuous what is the virtue of virtue?

Duality and non-duality? These concepts, too, arise from the dual-mind... or so it may seem. Hence my first answer. Answer: See? Even God can afford to be enlightened. New Koan: When a pebble has hit the water, which ripples does the water keep? The third one from the center.
mYTHmAKER Posted February 2, 2009 But if God is merely a concept of the mind then everything that is not God is No-mind Contemplate it - meditate on it. The Stigmeister has spoken God is also no mind Can you ame something that is not God - not made of God God -Tao only words - beyond mind - everything we know and don't know Nothing can be separated out i,e not Tao- not God - no such thing There is nothing you can think of or not think of that is not Tao - God Duality and non-duality? These concepts, too, arise from the dual-mind... or so it may seem. Hence my first answer. I am talking beyond concepts - beyond duality - at the root there is no duality. Man creates duality. Trees exist as forms whether we name them or not When we see something for the first time it has no name for us. We learn what it is named from someone else or name it our selves. In the first instance it is beyond mind - second instance it becomes of mind and we no longer see it the way we saw it the first time. This is mind at work but the tree is always this particular form.

mYTHmAKER Posted February 2, 2009 Everything is everything, adding nothing and taking away nothing. Koan: What separates you from what you observe? You got it. It is good if you keep it in your consciousness. What separates me from what i observe? Well i'll tell ya. Are you ready? i am not separated from what i observe. However, my mind thinks i am so duality makes it entrance.

Apech Posted February 3, 2009 It wasn't meant as such but now that you mention it I think it is Best so far - what's the answer?
mYTHmAKER Posted February 3, 2009 Best so far - what's the answer? If it's a real koan approved by The American Koan Society (TAKS) there is no rational answer we have to contemplate it until we break through to the one. Something like that
Apech Posted February 3, 2009 If it's a real koan approved by The American Koan Society (TAKS) there is no rational answer we have to contemplate it until we break through to the one. Something like that I need to see the official certificate of registration of this koan with TAKS before I start to contemplate anything. I don't puzzle over any old rubbish you know! I do have standards.
