the deletion or hiding of posts without explanation

No they were posts from gatito calling me unsavory and banning me from any threads he may start.

Personal attacks really.

I understand, a small group likes to bring up stuff on a lot of threads even when it has nothing to do with the topic :(

Well thank you for bringing it up.

The personal insults from the same group in every thread needs to stop.

Now we do have a group of new mods so a little understanding is in order.

On TI's threads, I play by TI's rules because TI owns those threads.

On my threads, TI plays by my rules.

Sincere apologies TI if this causes you any problems - because it really shouldn't...

_/\_

PS I deleted 2 of TI's posts on one of my threads and "Thanked" him fot the second one before I deleted it just to wind him up.

You people really need to lighten up - it's only an internet message board FFS...

Life moves on Apech and you need to move on with it or you'll meet the same fate as the dinosaurs.

The New Rules have been around for a long time and you just need to lean how to play by them...

How to Participate in Wei Wu Wei:

Reading Threads:
All members of The Dao Bums may read threads within any Forum area with Owner Permissions Applied.

Replying to Threads:
Starting with Junior Bums group, anyone can reply to threads within any Forum area with Owner Permissions

Starting Topics:
Starting with Junior Bums group, anyone can start a topic within any Forum area with Owner Permissions

To Control your Topics with Owner Permissions, you must qualify and request it:

Any member with the follow can request "Owner Permissions":
1. At least six months membership on the board AND
2. At least 200 posts.

Topics:
In this WWW area, content is started on any topic, and replies are welcomed which are within the ground rules explained in the Welcome Thread:
Read this: Link

Topics and Replies are expected to be constructive, not destructive in spirit.

In order to maintain the topic's integrity, the Thread Owner can use 'Owner Permissions' to ensure replies are consistent with the direction of the thread. If the Thread Owner feels a post(s) are not consistent to the topic, the Thread Owner may remove post(s) from the topic. If the Thread Owner decides the thread is no longer relevant, the entire thread may be removed.

If your replies are removed and you feel you cannot freely express your views (or counter-points), then you are welcomed to start a thread where you can control the topic. The requirements for the new topic must still agree with the expressed rules.

Once you have been granted Owner Permissions:

What you are allowed to do and when you can use owner permissions to:

In Any thread, regardless of who started it:

  • Edit or remove your own posts
In Threads you start:
  • Edit or remove your own posts
  • Remove others posts
  • Remove the thread
What you are not allowed to do and when you cannot use owner permissions to:

In Threads you DID NOT start, YOU CANNOT:
  • Remove nor edit others posts
  • Remove others threads
  • Use the 'owner permissions' in any way which interferes with another's posts or another's thread.
Currently, there is no software means to only enable these permissions when you are the Thread Owner.

In order to receive 'owner permissions', you must agree to an honest policy whereby you will only use the "Owner Permissions" when you start a thread.

Disclaimers:
- All TDB rules apply herein. You cannot violate any of the normal board rules.
- These permissions may be expanded or restricted by Owner/Admin decision.
- These permissions may be extended to other areas of the board by Owner/Admin decision. A member will automatically have the permissions and will not need to request it for other areas.
- Member's may 'report' something but the hope is that this may be alleviated by Thread Owners have permissions and other members can start their own topic and control that content.
- Failing to follow the guidelines of prohibitions in the area will result in loss of 'Owner Permissions'. Realize this means losing the permissions in all areas which are setup for such permissions.

Posts from this thread http://thedaobums.com/topic/40327-the-holy-spirit-is-not-kundalini-daskalos/?p=669550 have been hidden or deleted without warning or explanation.

Could the moderation team please provide an explanation of their decision as this is in breach of DaoBums custom and practice going back to when I first joined, as established by Sean.

This is important so please reply as soon as possible.

This has nothing to do with the moderating team.

I took a look. Numerous posts were hidden by the OP, and one by its author.

In keeping with the "owner permissions" arrangement, they can do this. The creator of a thread or post relatively speaking  has far more leeway than the mods or admins, the way things are now.

Ah ok I accept I am a dinosaur.

Since I haven't been paying attention - I will take this opportunity to say that 'owner permission' in General Discussion is a really shit idea.  I must admit I thought it only applied in ppfs and specialised sections.  It just opens up even more game playing as gatito so amply illustrated above.

But sorry for the fuss - but I guess I can say I still care - which something.

Exactly what I suspected.

I just read through the thread for the first time.  I'm sorry it got ugly.  Religion, politics.. Mo Pai.. these things are hot and should be treated with ..  more common courtesy then most.

Stops a lot of the moderation headaches though...

I'm still in the beta stages of testing it myself - but let's hope that it turns this place into something really special...

I don't want to play, thanks.

Then don't.

That's the beauty of the idea - we can all use this place the way that we choose to (within the overarching framework of the rules that Trunk codified so well).

Yes I can quite see that it would appeal to you.  But since I am am clearly still suffering from Post Traumatic Moderation Syndrome I'll give it a miss.

You most certainly will be continuing to give it a miss (in my threads anyway...).

The idea behind this is to make TDB more self-governing, with less need for moderator action. In this regard, an attempt to approach a Daoist ideal.

Obviously, it can be frustrating for a contributor to see their posts get hidden. Needless to say, you are free to not further contribute to threads whose OP you know to use their permissions in a way that you don't approve of. The more people do this, the greater the loss for the forum will be, however.

So yes, there is an up and a down side to this. :)

You wrote this and then hide the thread:

Given that's the case; both you and Jeff are permanently banned from all my threads, for being far worse thanunsavoury...

Make sure that you tell your Master, so that I can avoid the vexation of having to press any buttons to kick him out myself.

This is  not what Owner's Permissions are for.   You cannot claim to remove future posts.  The removal should be based on:

Topics and Replies are expected to be constructive, not destructive in spirit.

In order to maintain the topic's integrity, the Thread Owner can use 'Owner Permissions' to ensure replies are consistent with the direction of the thread. If the Thread Owner feels a post(s) are not consistent to the topic, the Thread Owner may remove post(s) from the topic. Add me into that group to regarding General Discussion (and the main sections). People seem to want to ban any opinion that is different than their own, hence the concept of discussion dies...

dawei

You are mistaken I hid nothing.

TI (or someone else) did all the post removals - you can reveal all mine (in their entirety) if you want and take any action that you choose thereafter.

I gave my word to abide by the rules and I did and I'll continue so to do.
