niki Posted March 18, 2016 I'm a 30 yr old woman from Florida. My first love is psychology, but I have many loves. I have a BA in psychology with a minor in philosophy. My second love is mysticism and religion. I find that Taoism and Buddhism are two of the many philosophies which relate psychology and religion/mysticism. My third love is socializing. I love to be with people and have positive relationships and social interactions. My first two loves make the third one possible. Â This doesn't necessarily need to be published.
Marblehead Posted March 18, 2016 Hello niki, and welcome.  Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.  Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started.  For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.  Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,  Marblehead and the TDB team   Hi Niki,  Yes, both philosophy and psychology would tend you toward being extroverted. I gave up psychology a long time ago as well as religion and mysticism. But I still have my philosophy we could talk about.  I'm sure you will find lots of discussions to get involved in.  You are welcome to jump right in ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forms to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.  May you enjoy your time here.  Marblehead

Very important (but oft-overlooked) component for self-purification along the spiritual path! Be great to hear some of your input on various topics here...  In retrospect, I would say that a background in psychology, bodywork, and Chinese medical theory would all be great prep courses for this inward spiral...

niki Posted March 21, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the reply. Psychology is often overlooked and waved off as "common sense." Â Unfortunately it's not common sense for everyone. I pursued an education and career in psychology because I knew something was not normal and I needed help. Â I eventually found the answer I was searching for in mysticism and philosophy. If anyone ever denies the existence of Carl Jung's Archetypes, I'll testify in court on a copy of any text society holds sacred... they're real, and they saved my life. Or at least my mind.
