thelerner Posted May 24, 2016 The mystical point of view (St. Symeon's) is not necessarily logical or sensical to the tic toc rational mind. I think its valid nonetheless. Often in mysticism we separate the man and even the legend from a powerful otherworldly force, thus the teacher/rebel/rabbi/miracle worker Yshua, is felt as a cosmic Christ consciousness embodied by knowledge and sensations that aren't easily grasped with our normal state of mind.
Kar3n Posted May 25, 2016 I did a little reading on Saint Symeon and found an interesting piece in The Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society. BECOMING LIKE GOD: AN EVANGELICAL DOCTRINE OF THEOSIS
thetaoiseasy Posted May 25, 2016 Jesus says: 12This is My commandment, that you love one another as I loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. He also said: 44 Whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” That's what Jesus said it means to be a son of God. It is not a standard that I personally can live up to but I do admire it. If you aspire to choose to be a "God" under Jesus's standards, more power to you!

Also, just for clarification.. I am not aspiring to be a God. All the best to you. Edited May 26, 2016 by Jonesboy

thelerner Posted May 28, 2016 The best, seem to walk with God, and when you do that, little problems don't matter so much. And they learn most problems are little ones. Pain and certain deprivations are inevitable but suffering is a choice. Not easy but most of us aren't at that level.
