bd2 Posted November 22, 2007 What do you think about Jasmuheen (www.jasmuheen.com)? Does living on light work? If it does: how does it work? It should be considered that calory restiction can increase the life span and cure illnesses. This has been proved by experiments on animals. So if living on light works and could be achieved by ordinary people, it would be a great tool for self realization.

Sorry to start on a sour note, but Jasmuheen is the worst example you could have picked, given her total failure to live up to her own philosophy.  Now,Im all up for the possibility of physical immortality, transubstantiating into bodies of light etc. Im all up for the possibility of Absolutely Anything !! But having watched her attempt to go several days without food on tv a number of years back, after a few people had died trying to implement her ideas, Jassie is the last person Id look to as an example !  Not to worry though. Theres plenty of groovy stuff in traditional Daoism, & one of Namkhai Norbu's Dzogchen books mentions turning INTO light instead of just living off the stuff ( obviously the mark of amateurs ).  It seems a lot of work though, when the Self is Always Allready Present as All Phenomena .Even in eating, crapping, snoring, aging Monkeys like me. & if Ive got it, sure as shit everyone else has !!!  No self-mortification required to experience that, I can tell you that for sure!   Still, can the more scholarly out there come up with some good references for Daoist immortalism ???   Regards,Cloud
Yoda Posted November 23, 2007 Combining fasting and spiritual cultivation practices is best left to hermits and monks, imo.
