ralis Posted October 14, 2016 enough with the strawmen and tu quoque, nobody fully knows the US Tax Code but any impartial observer that sees enough information can easily see how the general welfare clause has been used time and again to do that which the constitution doesnt allow. it lives, it breathes, it even transforms into a different beast?! that's where the general welfare clause and commerce clauses have taken this country, they have transmogrified it into an entirely different beast, unrecognizable from the original. I know you are promoting a selfish libertarian world. There are some issues that you and I agree on, but leaving people out on the street without a safety net, poor educational opportunities and so forth appears to be in your world view. joeblast Posted October 14, 2016 Anonymous posted:"I rotate through Diego Garcia every 6 weeks to pull maintenance on uplink equipment as a private contractor. Something big is going on, the island has more aircraft than anytime in the last 9 years. They have blocked off some access roads and are now parking aircraft on the road. Barriers have been set up around the aircraft areas. Temporary barracks and hangers are popping up everywhere. A tent city full of AF and Navy maintenance personnel has also been set up. I have never seen B1s and B2s there at the same time. Actually I have never seen more than 1 there at a time. Security is nuts I had to show my id at least 8 times a day My coworker is former AF and said they are like that when nukes are around. We counted over a dozen air refueling tankers on the ground. The airfield had a take off or landing every 15 minutes, very busy. When we flew out we waited in line for quite a while. We never had to wait in the past. The Navy had the docks full of ships and 6 to 8 more were moored just off shore. We watched many pallets of bombs being off loaded from one ship. There were a bunch of B-52's coming in that were painted flat black. I have not seen that before. So are we headed to war again?"

Karl Posted October 14, 2016 I took the Mensa test and passed. If I took the low road with ad hominems such as what you posted, towards you, you would call me out on it. Of course I would call you out on it :-)

joeblast Posted October 14, 2016 (edited) You entirely missed the point. Read the book if you dare. I posted the link. as usual, a strawman from you when you're cornered on something - change the language up, redirect the focus of the debate...ah transparency...I just wasnt playing along. wow, this has got to be one of the best I've seen in a while what's that about authoritarian, again? Recalling past days when three television channels delivered fact-based news that most people trusted, Obama said democracy require citizens to be able to sift through lies and distortions. "We are going to have to rebuild within this wild-wild-west-of-information flow some sort of curating function that people agree to," Obama said at an innovation conference in Pittsburgh. "There has to be, I think, some sort of way in which we can sort through information that passes some basic truthiness tests and those that we have to discard, because they just don't have any basis in anything that's actually happening in the world," Obama added. ... "That is hard to do, but I think it's going to be necessary, it's going to be possible," he added. "The answer is obviously not censorship, but it's creating places where people can say 'this is reliable' and I'm still able to argue safely about facts and what we should do about it." ah yes, a ministry of truth? Somehow I dont think the ministry of truth would have been showing the video of Obama on a plane with a visible hardon, laughing and joking and gesticulating it at a woman - that'd be....ah, just a bit inconvenient, shall we say? But really even worse than that is Michael Froman, a former Citibank executive, having his email dictating what obama's staff should be to him leak out, now that'd really make him look like a total liar, if one doesnt perceive him to be such already. what was that someone was saying about how the banks dont actually control things like the main staff positions of a presidential administration? hahaha, yyyyyyyyyyyyyeah........and people wonder why Hillary hid and deleted 33,000+ emails? You have consistently redirected the focus of this discussion. Actually, there is little point in even having a real discussion when you are unwilling to relax as opposed to the myopic point of view that libertarians love to push. joeblast Posted October 14, 2016 You appear to hold the view of Justice Scalia that the Constitution is a dead document. There are many Constitutional lawyers that disagree with that notion. It is the tea bagger party that has been drilling this notion of the dead document Constitution in the minds of gullible persons. people that have those views, especially in high places, are a problem, and TPTB will get rid of them when they need to we all know how much the constitution is a problem for those that want to just say the general welfare and commerce clauses mean the gov can make any law it wants to
