Yoda Posted December 3, 2007 Esther Hicks, the inspiration behind The Secret, really focuses her message on appreciating others and all the many positive aspects of one's life as *the* essential skill to develop. She says that the word "appreciation" is superior to love or compassion as those words have too much baggage going on. Appreciation carries simpler connotations. Â My Swami says that actually verbalizing one's appreciation for others is absolutely crucial for both the teacher, the student, and the relationship between the two. He says, "Those words of thanks, those words directed to you, give you moksha. That is important for your life, and the next life."
