Nonduality and Daoism

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm happy to be here! I have been interested in different wisdom teachings all of my life. The DDJ sa always been close to my heart. After all these years, I can still pick it up and discover something new. I'm interested in Advaita, Zen, Daoism, and basically any teaching that points to the truth.

Hello greenshade, and welcome.

Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.

Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Marblehead and the TDB team

Hi greenshade,

Yes, you will find some truths here.  You will find some other stuff too.

You are welcome to jump right in ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forms to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

May you enjoy your time here.

Welcome Greenshade!

Do you have a favorite translation of the DDJ?

Thank you for all of the welcomes and notes on the rules. I can actually read Chinese and I took enough classical Chinese that I can get by, but I still use translations. I wouldn't say I have a favorite though-it seems like the best ones I still feel like almost get it right. Having said that, I most often use this translation because it's actually five translations together with the Chinese: Tao Te Ching in Translation

Basically, I read the Chinese until I get stuck and then I go through all of the translations just to get a sense of what I'm missing, if that makes sense.

Thanks, greenshade...

I hadn't seen that one. Reading the editor's comments about his path and work was very interesting, as he's also written three volumes on learning to read the classics of Chinese Medicine!  I wish Amazon would let us peek inside!
