Brian Posted December 21, 2016 England was social Democrat, till Tony became Bush's lapdog. For how many generations would you say England was a socialist utopia before that horrible George Bush ruined it all?
Brian Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) "Perhaps you could point out one?"  Carlos Slim, check out his FTC records, or search news. He doesn't even employ Mexicans, because Filipinos work cheaper, and don't deviate from the script. Ummm...   Not a wealthy person, a socialist utopia.  EDIT: Of course, that does beg the question of how someone like that could come into existence in the socialist utopia of Mexico... ralis Posted December 21, 2016 I am curious -- are you aware of how Marx explained the distinction between "communism" and "socialism" when asked why he and Engels switched from the former term to the latter?   Still worried about those commies Brian? As General Jack D. Ripper famously said; the commies are sapping and polluting our precious bodily fluids.
ralis Posted December 21, 2016 I'm confused, too, about this idea of a strong middle class being essential to the socialist utopia. I thought the objective was a classless homogeneous proletariat (affectionately called Proles in some circles...) Â All animals are equal, and all that? Â Which social structure are you aligned with? Brian Posted December 21, 2016 Still worried about those commies Brian? As General Jack D. Ripper famously said; the commies are sapping and polluting our precious bodily fluids.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1KvgtEnABY Worried? Heavens no! No more than I worry about today's weather. I'm not the one who brought the concept back up again, either, FWIW. I did ask a few I convenient questions of those who continually advance the topic, presumably under the impression that thinking people necessarily share their opinions but I'm a curious person so I often ask questions even when I don't expect they'll get answered. Perhaps, since you've chosen to insert yourself with the inference that I must be unhinged (a tactic I've noticed you fall back on frequently), you might be willing to answer some of these simple questions.  I am reminded, actually, about a conversation I overheard this Spring -- on Earth Day -- between several college students who noted the significance of that particular date and then (after speculation about whether Lenin and Lennon were related (probably so, since they had so much in common...)) agreed all around that Marxism was clearly the perfect form of society and they couldn't wait for their generation to finally replace Capitalism with it in the US. Then one of them got a call and the others seamlessly switched the conversation to a detailed comparison of the different models of cell phones they were carrying. Quite a surreal thing to witness! Brian Posted December 21, 2016 Which social structure are you aligned with?I've explained that at length to you over and over, ralis. If you don't remember, I'd encourage you to search previous threads. If you don't understand my answers, I'd encourage you to ask someone else to help you figure it out. Since you ask, though, perhaps you would take the opportunity to explain the social structure with which you are aligned? You always seem evasive and in denial when you are asked, for some reason. Â Ask someone to assist me in understanding your narrative? Really Brian? Are you in the professorial mode today? My response is in regards to your seeming obsession with communism and any politic from the left of the spectrum.
Brian Posted December 21, 2016 Ask someone to assist me in understanding your narrative? Really Brian? Are you in the professorial mode today? My response is in regards to your seeming obsession with communism and any politic from the left of the spectrum.Ah. Since you have asked, and have had repeatedly answered, this same line of questioning multiple times, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt by suggesting the benign possibilities that you forgot the past exchanges or simply didn't understand the answer (a reasonable possibility since you have expressed difficulty in understanding my posts before). Since you reject those plausible explanations and offer no other, I suppose you wish to leave that open to speculation. So you dodge the question of your personal ideology yet again? Surprise, surprise, surprise!
Trunk Posted December 21, 2016 Wow. Ok. I think that politcal threads can be as addictive and destructive as religious threads.
