Buddhist didn't lost ming method (Wu Liu Pai Response)

Recommended Posts

Many taoist schools quote Yiming for saying that buddhist schools do not have ming, or immortality and such things related to yuan qi which is totally wrong. Here is example that there are still immortal buddhists. Beside in sutras Buddha knew immortality way but discarded it besides keeping four arhants which mastered their ming which they can live forever and they suppose to appear while another Buddha come to our world.

Ā

"The Ācariya was staying in a cave and late at night while it was very quiet

and he was practising samādhi bhāvanā an Arahant whose name was Venerable

Bhākula who was tall, light complexioned, beautiful and such as would inspire

faith in those who saw him, used to come through the air to visit him by the

way of samādhi bhāvanā. One day the Ācariya had lost something and had been quite unable to find

it. That evening, as soon as he had sat to do his meditation practice the Arahant

came through the air to visit him. As soon as he had descended and sat down[...]"

Ā

"As soon as he had finished this Arahant said farewell to the Ācariya and then flew

into the air and disappeared. After the visitor had gone, the Ācariya thought

over and thoroughly examined what the Arahant had revealed and taught him.

He became overwhelmed with wonder, for he had never even dreamed that

an exalted Arahant who had reached Nibbāna already should make a special

effort and come with mettā to teach him about the Dhutanga observances and

many other aspects of Dhamma. He became very confident in all aspects of

Dhamma and felt sure that he had not wasted the opportunity of being born

as a human being, and he was full of praise for the supremely wise being who

had come with mettā to teach him. For it was one of the ā€œKhÄ«nāsavaā€who

came through the air to him."

Ā

Taoist do not understand buddhist ming.

And the four arhants became 16 in esoteric buddhism.

In the Shaolin tradition, they were honoured with the 16 Luo han gong exercises, which form an advanced level of the Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Zhi Chan.

Ā

And they start with activating the eight extraordinary vessels, and then continue with something else.

I've never seen a set of 16 Luohangong, I practice a set of 18.

Do you practice a set of 16?

Thanks

You might find that 18 is a daoist inspired number....

Ā

Choy Lee Fut and Shaolin Wahnam both have sets of 18 movements.

Ā

The luo han gong I practice is based on zhan zhuan, with mudras and finger bending exercises.

To save some time, let's go through the usual stages in a TDB thread :

Ā

Does any of these methods truly work with Ming and prenatal material, or are they just qigong working with postnatal energies which has only health benefits?

Ā

And the proper answer is: Only my tradition work with prenatal energetics, everybody else are lost on minor side paths leading nowhere.

Ā

Gosh, feels like a relief when the cat is out of the bag.

Ā

Now what?

Care for a cup of tea?
