Yes. The mainstream media in India is heavily indoctrinated with an anti-Hindu mindset. Till this present government got elected in a clear majority, this was far more rampant. The current government is formed by the primarily Hindu middle-classs party known as the BJP (which has been called a right wing extreme nationalist party by this same media who hate Hinduism) - and is therefore more sympathetic.

I was not and just looked at the news yesterday.  Really surprising results!

People had predicted there will be negative fallout from it, but it actually has helped things with the masses it seems. The current Federal Govt's Party ousted incumbent, entrenched parties in the largest state of India (UP) elections with a massive margin.

Just goes on to show, the so called education or literacy doesn't have much to do with a person's ability to make informed decisions.  If we have to go purely by statistics, they will say this is one of the most illiterate states in the country.  

 

Educated or not, literate or not, people were able to see the "politics of separation & fear" that you talked about.   There was so much propaganda by media & others about how people suffered immensely from that currency demonetization.   They were talking (criticizing) day and night about it without a break, for several weeks.  They said poor people were the ones mostly affected, they were all angry against the government because of their suffering.  This projected immense suffering seems to be an illusion.  

Once again, going by statistics on poverty ratio, this state is somewhere on top of the list.  If these poor people truly suffered as described, they would not have voted for the party that made them go through such immense suffering.  The surprise factor was from the margin of win under the given circumstances, a record in last 40 years or so.

 

 

(I guess the one's that truly suffered were holding tons of illegal currency in those demonetized notes.  In their abject misery, bitterness, shock and anger on suddenly losing what they had, they projected it as poor people's suffering.)

Thanks for sharing that link.  That was very insightful.  How come the main stream media never talks about such topics?  They don't even mention it in the passing.

Mr Modi is really a reluctant politician. He was ready to renounce samsara and enter the RamaKrishna Order, but was then asked by the Head Swami of the order to enter public service instead.

 

He is a true karma yogi, and cut from the same cloth as the Indian freedom fighters. His humble background clearly gives him a first hand view and empathy for the underprivileged, and he had made many good moves since he took office.

 

India has been systematically kept "backward" by the former powerlords - a system that encouraged nepotism, ideological manipulation and divisive mindsets. They cultivated an environment of sycophancy and servitude, which the current government is changing, by putting boots on the rumps of the civil services.

The mainstream media in India is pathetic and virulently communist/Marxist. Most of the opinion makers therein are products of the JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) which has been a bastion of Marxism and Maoist ideology.

 

They had it good for so many years, until Modi and the BJP won a landslide majority verdict and are continuing to make inroads even in the most entrenched seats of these ultra-leftist ideologies.

 

People are waking up, as the youth now bypass mainstream media anyway. It is both good and bad (another negative extreme has manifested here in the US with the election of the orange man).
