An inquiry - Goal of spirituality

Recommended Posts

If suffering is your thing then maybe investigate the original meaning of dukkha.

Buddha Gautama had a lot to say about increasing happiness, reducing suffering, and a consistent approach leading to those outcomes.

Did read from Buddhism( Theravada) , but cannot relate to the 'approach' part. It was given as a whole fixed set of teachings in which many of them needs to be accepted on faith. :-)

Look again: Samatha (jhanas) and Vipassana require nothing to be taken on faith. Empirical, repeatable, attested to by many.

Namaste.

Taoteching99, I read your full explanation about the topic you have suggested for discussion. The direction of your quest is right as much as you are seeking solutions through spirituality and not through worldly pursuits of sensuality and materialism. The worldly pursuits of sensuality and materialism are pursuits that can give only instant pleasures and suffering in the end, not lasting happiness. This is because worldly pursuits are mostly selfish and egocentric. They boost only negative aspects of human personality called desires of the Mind and Ego which are just the opposite of truth or Realities of life. A deeper study of Vedanta philosophy will enable you to find your true happiness and relief from sufferings and pains of worldly life.
