the red meat i eat is usda approved to have been raised without antibiotics no preservatives etc etc; i was on her diet a while ago, it works. i'm going to buy some fish oil again soon.

 

i mentioned the dark chocolate because that raises your libido as well, vantage.

I had sort of given up on retention personally. But kept reading that is was the way to go, ...
A fairly common pattern within the community (including myself). The PR in the books mostly does not match reality (for most).

 

but once I get "frustrated" it's just all downhill from there.
Again, common.

 

When I hear stories of "I retained for __(insert amount of time)__ and it felt good", I think to myself "ok, but what happened in the days, week, following that?".

 

A more moderate approach to "jing gong", a more realistic frame for most, is to use the exercises to smooth and harmonize your natural cycle of activity ~ inactivity. (Versus trying to make some segment of that cycle last forever.)

We should really make a comprehensive guide to retention/celibacy and pin it. Just one page with different techniques for different situations, what foods help and what don't, different times of the day to utilize different energies etc... because everything is very scattered even when it is on one thread...just an idea.

 

I am currently struggling with all of this as well. But kunlun, so far, is helping immensly.

Not sure I follow what you are saying here Trunk. Could you elaborate?

 

Also many of the neikung systems I have read about have an inital 3 month or so period, after which one can release in moderation. Say once a month. I dunno iif I can stick with that or not. My short term goal is to retain at least until after Lin's culivation meet. If possible maybe even for a complete 100 days of Kunlun.

but when I was 18 once a day would be, "elmost enough" If I went back in time and told myself at 18 that once a week would be enough. I would still be laughing at myself :D

Haha when I was 18, I could never get enough. Damn what a waste of perfectly good jing!

Haha I am only 32, so stop making me feel like an old man dude :P . During adolesence and into the early 20's testorone kicks into overdrive, so most young men think about sex 24-7. If you can ride that out now, then that is quite an accomplishment. Of course, I wasn't too into the eastern stuff back then except through some of Crowley's writings, so you have a few more tools at your disposal. Have you read any of Charles Luk Taoist Sexual Yoga yet?

 

If I behave it'll be almost a month by the time Lin's cultivation meet rolls around :D

 

Yeah I really want to get the most out of it. I am thinking about cutting out meat the week before as well, but worried about upsetting the balance of my body and getting sick. Are you guys coming in from out of town as well Dan?

hehe I'm just going to do my normal...try not to eat animals larger than myself for easy digestion. chicken and fish are easy to digest. I know I dont have the enzymes built up to go veggie for that long, so I wont even try it. Coming from CT, 'bout a 2 hour drive, not too bad :)

I only made it about half way through last go. My knowledge is a little better now thanks to you TBs. I will give it another go from start finish and we will compare notes brother.

I just started reading that as well. :) I bought that along with those two Nan Huai Chin books Drew suggested. I'm halfway through Working Towards Enlightenment right now...great book!

I am making steady progress with my retention practice.

 

I've now learned that an effective way of avoiding wet dreams is a 10 minute yoga practice before i go to bed.

I do udyana bandha, shoulderstand, headstand.

 

I found out diet, coffee, sleeping on my side are not all that important. The yoga practice is.

 

I started on the 1st april. My goal is to make to 1st of june.

New to Tao practices, have a very elementary but monumentally important question: is masturbation harmful to men's health, or only the excessive masturbation is harmful?

 

I am happily divorced after 7 years of marriage with wonderful sex during my marriage, but I am not interested in marriage any more and I am not going to chase women just to get laid, and I don't want relationship with women any more because it's really not worth the effort. When I have sexual desires I simply just masturbate and discharge. I don't need to do that daily and I hardly ever do it more than once in a single day.

 

The benefit of not needing to chase women for sex and not having a relationship is that now I have all the time to myself to do whatever I please, and I devote almost all of them to my spiritual studies and pursues now, to move out of the "humanity" Matrix if I may.

 

Am I damaging my health with this life style I am living now? Should I seek Taoist sexual practices means to stop masturbation and to retain the Jing? Please advice! Thanks so much!

Hello

 

When having sex with a woman you gain more energy. So the risk with masturbation is bigger with respect to loosing Jing, sexual energy. If you should or not should start sexual practises is a matter of interest. If you want big progress in your qigong or yoga practises, then the sexual practises are necessarily. But it should be done with care and together with alot balancing practises otherwise it might be wery harmful as well.

 

The first thing to do if living alone, not having a sexual relationship is to regulate your orgasms with ejaculation. It is a qustion of how old you are and how strong health you have.

 

A young man, could have ejaculatins every day

A man in twenty one ejaculatin in three days.

30 once in a week or a bit more often if healthy

40 not more than once in a week

50 once in a week or once in two weeks

60 Not have ejaculations at all is preferable

 

This advises is from my memory, but it looks somewhat like that. But might differ a litle beatwean books.

 

But you can have as much sex you want and masturbate as much as you which but not ejaculate. To masturbate and having sex is good for you if you not owerdo it. To stimulate Jing with masturbation is good. But it might be bad to use porn or other artificial products!

 

This is what it is all about. You loose your life enrgy your stamina and your health if ejaculating to much, and it go quicker than if beeing with a woman. As I see it.
