Https in the Dao Bums too

Recommended Posts

I am not sure what the benefit would be to make TDB https. Most everything here is visible to the public, except a select few areas. I am a member of several internet forums/communities, none of them are https.

There is no posting of information that can trace back to us personally unless we share it. I would hope that folks are not sharing passwords, credit card or banking information. :o

We can be as anonymous as we would like to be. I, personally do not see the risk.

Um, I'm pretty sure you'd feel differently if someone grabbed your pw through an insecure session and started posting kiddie porn from an IP address that was yours (spoofed, ofc).

Yeah, well, let's hope that our members are above those types of disgusting behaviors.

We can live in fear or we can just live. I guess it is up to the individual.

Let's hope so Kar3n but please don't count on that. We are all human and as such we can be either saints or sinners. The spiritual community also sees sinners (wolf hiding in sheep's clothing).

Kind regards :)

Actually, the thought of a member doing something like that didn't cross my mind, but yes, that's one scenario. Or a very young future IT security guru honing his or her skills. Not all parents can afford to provide home labs for their kids.

As an update, having talked among the Admin/Tech Level.   Nothing on the site has changed and it is the same as it was last year or 10 years ago as far as the software side.   The server side could be different.

But browsers have come to want tighter security and that is what folks are seeing if your browser raises a notice about https.

We're still working towards a new server and software upgrades but not getting useful answers or solutions with the particular errors we encounter.
