doc benway Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) I am a bit surprised you include "space". Space and Time change considerably - to the point of limitless space and no time - distance-less space. Space is used as many of its characteristics are instructive.Space is unbounded, limitless, empty, indestructible, unborn, undying, and so forth. Again, not a definition but only a description of certain attributes. Edited April 10, 2017 by steve
allinone Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) Dead frog legs start to twitch when put salt on them. Likewise potato can give out current what can be made into heat. Dead body has habits. It just doesn't have capacity to make a decision to go and drink water. So decisions, opinions are made if you are standing up and walking around. Its all substances with their conditions and how they react. Then also awareness, spirit and soul are substances. NB: and what most important is that it all can be mastered/liberated/enunciated. Jesus brought back dead body to life. Also specialists can bring back to life people from non breathing or heart failure. Guess there is a limit you can be brought back to life and normal without much damage to brain and organs. It seem Jesus was excellent specialist, he also made blind people to see again and people who can't walk, walk again. But there is also mentioned a conditions, not all can be helped.. blue eyed snake Posted April 10, 2017 Awakening is usually termed in the context of dreaming, so at night you may dream you are this or that person having a variety of experiences, but then you wake up and in a few seconds you realise that it wasn't real and was a mental creation. Spiritual awakening is very similar in that you realise the person you thought you were is also a mental creation, so just as the person you create in the dream never wakes up you as a separate individual will also never wake up, rather you wake up from that to the realisation that you aren't that. Something else wakes up through you. So even if enlightenment happens it won't happen to you. But just because you have woken up from being a human it doesn't mean no suffering, what is left of the psyche can react in a multitude of ways including fear and terror. For example Suzanne Seagal wrote about her experiences in her book "Collision With the Infinite" and she clearly had an awakening but spent most of the rest of her life in confusion and fear. I personally did a retreat last year where one Finnish woman woke up and spent the two weeks crying and was as white as a sheet the entire time. There may be no suffering from the perspective of awake space but that doesn't mean that your entirety and all the different areas of your psyche shares this perspective. There may be no past or future from the perspective of awake space but all your survival conditioning passed down both genetically and karmically over hundreds of years/lifetimes isn't going to give up its grip so easily. thank you
Spotless Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) Awakening is usually termed in the context of dreaming, so at night you may dream you are this or that person having a variety of experiences, but then you wake up and in a few seconds you realise that it wasn't real and was a mental creation. There may be no past or future from the perspective of awake space but all your survival conditioning passed down both genetically and karmically over hundreds of years/lifetimes isn't going to give up its grip so easily. You are looking at this from a "perspective" point of view - it is not a perspective shift. It may be interesting pointing out what appear to be exceptions but so far you have mentioned three and each are questionable. You state: "just because you have woken up from being a human" You appear to infer that "we" might be putting forth the ideas that someone who has Awakened has become less human - more Divine or something - this is entirely mistaken. It is a quantum leap into humanness - a quantum dropping away of the robotics of the trance illusion - the childhood of mankind. Try to see this with beginners mind. From perspective and extrapolation you will find exception to everything that has ever been taught in all the universes. While it is simple, it is not to be turned into a view that is from the relative and perspective. It is not a shift of mind and thinking. Certainly some that have had a partial Awakening exhibit strong exception and some are still in the illusion while being Awake as well and their difficulties are generally fairly clear. Some difficulties are very very subtle. These are just some of the reasons that those that have "Awoken" seek out teachers that have long been Awake or simply those that have stabilized. Several of the most recent interviews at batgap are with gentleman that are quite fairly Awake or have had Awakening experience but at least one is clearly "missing / blocking" and held in perspective on some very fundamental levels. One interview from some time ago was with a teacher that has many centers and has written quite a few books - very intellectual - he is a channel and not Awake but it is only clear in hearing him answer questions of a certain sort - otherwise he has the talk down perfectly. Humanity is messy with all sorts of variants. Awakening takes time to stabilize - and it may stabilize into a quasi-Awake and illusioned presence. Sometimes the fear of making the mistake of still being in illusion is a blocking glue to realization. Like those who never put down the books. Extreme perfect ideals are both a blessing and a hindrance - they help to make one strive beyond the mundane and beyond the contrived and prideful - but like pride they are stuck in the past and have no relationship to present. aboo Posted April 10, 2017 I can say with certainty that he did not sit in the cave in order to do anything - it is an absolutely momentous shift - it knocks speech and movement from under your feet - there is nothing what so ever to do. Integration is taking place immediately - it is only integration in the sense that you are floating in non-inertia. Inertia was what the "you' the "seeker" that is no longer was. Integration is into the stillness that is what one is - Divine Essence. If one is not constantly in a cave one is generally sitting frequently for very long periods of time. For at least two years I constantly just sat in a chair, or in my car in a parking lot or pulled over to the side of the road. Other than going to Qi Gong, picking up my son, eating and some very minimal running of a business that runs itself - I was constantly dropped to my knees in gratitude, stillness and the light - and constant massive energy expansions which continue constantly to this day some 5 years later. I still constantly am pulled to just sit in stillness. One is not 'figuring" things out at this time - one is not preparing - it is so completely the polar opposite of this. One is doing nothing. As the bodies expand into this, happening eventually takes place - re-integration into society is a piece of cake - their is no angst, no future worrying, no sense of urgency. Others are in it - the illusion - it is odd to see this and it is odd to find oneself in a family with a business the dynamics of which have completely changed. But it is not hard at all - it may require work for money etc., but in the Nowness it is simply zero problem - even if things are "difficult". If one were to lose ones family, fortune and friends - that would be no problem - it would not be painful - not because of numbness but because if this were to occur it is for the best - not a sense of loss - one is not in the past. From my own readings I believe you are correct: Ramana was located at Arunachaleswara temple and Gurumurtam temple; after his awakening. He was located at the Arunachala caves at a later date; in the region of 2-4 years later I believe. From biographies I've read, such as Paul Brunton's, it said Ramana would be absorbed to such an extent, he would wake up and have no idea how he moved from one spot to another; the assumption was that he was picked up and moved. allinone Posted April 14, 2017 There is this wobble effect. That you find yourself on the other side of your own decision, so if you reject something then you will be also rejected someday. Whatever action comes back to you. But when you do a conscious act, or aware what you do, that action doesn't produce karma but still is karma. With that you set a condition for to pay off karma, it will also results in bad or good feeling but is reverse step. You are aware of condition and can learn. Learning means you can simulate reality without doing things for real. That is non-doing but still it is same as doing. But you can do things much faster than you would do everything for real.
