nice to meet you

Recommended Posts

Hello thedaobumusers ;-)

i'm new to this forum (and fairly new to tao as well).

i'm just a regular 36 year old daddy of 2 daughters with a rather busy job.

what am i looking for here ?

something to quit my mind, to study, to draw energy from.

i started with every morning 5 to 10 minutes breathing excercises (and a cold shower afterwards :) )

it does feel good!

any tips or roadmaps are more than welcome !

Hello dje, and welcome.

Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.

Please take the time to read the post pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Marblehead and the TDB team

Hi dje,

I will recommend empty-minded meditation.  But only when the wife and kids are sleeping.

You are welcome to jump right in ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forms to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

May you enjoy your time here.

Sounds  like you got a good start. Breath work is great, breathing into the LDT is a great technique that's very Daoisty. Welcome to TDB.

Hi dje,

Nice to meet you too.

I find the above quotation from you interesting and these surfaced in my mind:

(i) Do you have an inkling what that "something" is?

(ii) Guess you do as indicated from these - "energy", "breathing exercises" and "roadmaps".

(iii) To "quit" or quiet your mind?

(iv) If it is to "quit", won't you be mindless?

(v) My Sifu told me to be mindful - different strokes (for different folks)?

As the weekend is hours away at my end, (i) => (v) surfaced half in jest.

- LimA

I admire the discipline that comes with the cold showers.  Add 30 fast deep breaths then a hold and you are well on your way to Wim Hof method :)  -  It's a 10 week course that doesn't take too long, incorporates dynamic breathing, many health benefits and gives a substantial energy boost.
