windwalker Posted June 16, 2017 "Focusing Emptiness is about how the significant choices we make in life can be colored by the trauma we experience in childhood. It is about how we split off our most vulnerable parts, and how these parts can sometimes fall into a fantasy world where real world choices become entangled with the fantasy world designed to protect us. If you have ever looked back on your life, and wondered why you made that particular decision, that decision which turned your direction at that critical fork in the road, then this book will touch something of deep recognition inside you." http://focusingemptiness.com/index.php/about-the-book My first CMA teacher wrote a book explaining the start for many peoples journeys in life. some of which I outline in my own journey to emptiness. https://journeytoemptiness.com/2017/05/10/beginnings/ thought some might enjoy the reading,,,

I am adding Focusing Emptiness to my near-future reading list!

I am adding Focusing Emptiness to my near-future reading list! Hop Gar, was very cool in many aspects, Mike has many stories about his use of it. Our training in the style was very severer, it among other styles was/is billed as a fighting style. The mantis style as taught in Korea, seems to be a little different then those lines from HK reflecting IMO more the flavor of Shandong the origin of the mantis style. talks a little bit about my teacher in this style http://www.oocities.org/mantiscave/parkchil.htm Mike, is very accessible by email, should some be interested in corresponding with him. windwalker Posted June 16, 2017 (edited) For those interested, Mike, might address comments here. If posed to him directly. I'll forward the links to him, ya never know he is busy but enjoys working with people and sharing things he's found along the way. I like this site, the high level of discourse and the many varied conversations. My hope would be that maybe he sees the site and joins the bums,,,,another bum walking on the path of the dao....life is good. windwalker Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) Mike seems to have found his way here, becoming one of the "bums" he's been walking the path for quite a while... Some thoughts on his book. In some ways its a strange book in that one can not read it right a way. like a fine wine one has to savor the taste allowing it to seep in quietly. Although it does have chapters and such. Each can stand on its own complete within its self, and yet part of a greater whole. Quote It is about how we split off our most vulnerable parts, and how these parts can sometimes fall into a fantasy world where real world choices become entangled with the fantasy world designed to protect us. an insightful work. hope others take the time to read the book, any questions privately or publicly Mike, is very approachable.
