I hadn't thought of that, but it could be an answer. If "all is truth", "all is Buddha nature", then that would seem like an answer. allinone Posted June 29, 2017 wiki A kōan (公案) (/ˈkoʊ.ɑːn/; Chinese: 公案; pinyin: gōng'àn; Korean: 공안 kong'an; Vietnamese: công án) is a story, dialogue, question, or statement, which is used in Zen practice to provoke the "great doubt" and test a student's progress in Zen practice. --- i think the point is, if you are in X stage you get out X guess. So you use koan to make you aware of it that your X answer is conditioned by X stage.

voidisyinyang Posted June 29, 2017 (edited) Is violence the only thing people listen to? Is that why Zen monks hit so hard? Edited June 29, 2017 by voidisyinyang
wstein Posted June 30, 2017 22 hours ago, roger said: What is the sound of one hand clapping? "clap, clap, clap" pretty much the same as two hands clapping only quieter. One only is confused by this question if they are imaging one hand attempting to clap with another hand that is not there.
