Obviously most people here are only able to make mediocre jokes about peaches, which certainly deserve canned laughter.

 

Xiwangmu is one of the most important deities of Ritual Daoism (the term I prefer to "religious" Daoism) and there is a long history of turning to her, both by men and woman for help in cultivation.  Here are some resources:

For her treatment at a great source for Ritual Daoist information this is it

 

I don't have much time right now to say much more, but from a traditional perspective your idea is a good one.

Great idea. though Reliance on an outside source without inner cultivation can be a sort of issue. Most deities and spirits want something in return, an what they give might be able to be revoked. So it's a matter of personal choice, I suggest you try it and feel free to message me the results. I definitely find this interesting.

 

 

By the way, all the joking and crap, I've been doing what I can to make noise about it becAuse unfair and gives the idea that people are here only to make fun of you, instead of this place being an open forum for ideas and voices to be exchanged and heard.

It is certainly easier to ask Xi Wangmu for one of her peaches.  Don't be upset, though, if the Queen Mother doesn't offer you one right away.  Patience is a virtue.

Well, that's a good question, but looking at the Wiki link I don't think it's that simple. Both King Mu and Emperor Wu appear to have failed to follow her practices and instructions, and didn't attain immortality.

 

There appears to be more to it than just eating fruit.

There's a difference between longevity and immortality. The former is sourced in many years; the latter is sourced in a perfect moment. Like when eating a fresh ripe juice running down your face & hands and all you can do is laugh peach. (-:

My son and I were given peaches by a monk in cave off the beaten path of Wudang Mountain in China.We went exploring with a tip from a person from our school. We did not bring water thinking the journey was not far so the gift of peaches was very helpful.

 

No taoist I know would say anything about longevity as a goal or guaranty of practice.

 

We walked across immortal meeting bridge, given peaches and gained eternally.

 

Then I touched the computer and became mortal again. At Least I remember the way back so I can come and go freely until the time for me is ripe as a juicy peach.

 

I still have work, commitments and responsibilities in the dust of this world that is tied into something most high.

 

Please do not post pictures of peach pies, I beg of you, show mercy

And then there are mulberries... O M G!

There was a huge tree up in the pasture when I moved here... most amazing berries EVER...almost rival peaches!  

But then, nothing really rivals peaches.
