Tao Convert

Recommended Posts

Hi Y'all,

My name is Amy, and I have been studying the Tao for about 3 months. I was drifting aimlessly since leaving Christianity 4 years ago. I did a lot of YouTube with Chakras, Meditating, Astral Planes, etc. One day (as I was playing Star Wars, SWTOR), I decided to look more into Taoism. I have known for some time that "The Force" was based on Tao. I read it all the way through in one sitting the first time. I am currently comparing 2 different translations as I read through again. I live in a very conservative town that it is in a very conservative state. It is probably 3 hours to the nearest town that might have a Tao temple. So, I started looking for an online community - and here I am. Thanks!

Hello Amy, and welcome.

Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.

Please take the time to read the post pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum Terms and Rules.   This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Marblehead and the TDB team

Hi Amy,

Four years isn't bad compared to the over 25 years it took me.  Yes, read as many translations as possible.

You are welcome to jump right in ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forms to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

May you enjoy your time here.

Hi Amy,

I am now at TDB and I am still drifting aimlessly ... but mindfully and hopefully.

At this very moment - drift aimlessly to ....

A happy weekend.

Welcome, Amy!

When you say you read "it," you mean the Dao De Jing?

Hi Mig,

Very nice to drift.  Such a flow ... Such friends ... No friends ... Such freedom ... Wuwei ... => =>

=> => => => => Emptiness.

I know nothing. Pity the man who knows more ...

Nice that the Dao deposited you here at last!

Hi Michael S

I second that.

XYZ (lost)  => TDB  =>  Wuwei ... => => => => => => =>  Emptiness (at last!)

Hi Amy,

Drifting can be a good thing. It's quite liberating. :)

I'm also new here and have been pouring over many old threads, some from as early as 2009. There is a lot of good information to be found on TDB.

Welcome!
