I am just another one of "everyone" in that sense.  As an example of how I did things professionally, I will write that I would do consultations for individuals and groups. For a day when I would see a group of people in a row, I would write on a sheet of paper beforehand about each person I felt would show up.  These were "drop-in" appointments not made in advance, like an "open house". Any number of people "could" show up, and no advance reservations were made.
