rideforever Posted August 10, 2018 The only thing I can add to what she says is the virtue and intelligence of exploration, even into mystical practices. Well why not ? Does it really make sense to spend 100 years not trying something out. Very soon you will see that practices from spiritual traditions open up new fields of existence. But probably she was glorying in her true self, her joy of her own consciousness, that she was very satisfied with her own good work. Perhaps in a future life she will explore further afield. A joy to watch someone who lives joyfully and meets all challenges with an abundant spirit.

rideforever Posted August 10, 2018 Yes .... I watched quite a lot of her today, but does it go wrong .... are there things she doesn't understand ? I believe there are. One of the most damaging things occurring in the world today is the systematic perversion / corruption / distortion / twisting of the minds of ordinary people through the media. Big companies use sophisticated psychological techniques to twist your mind until you love what destroys you, and you hate what will help you. It is appalling. Rand does not have an answer for this. Neither does she have an answer for corporations (non-human legal persons) who are abstract entities designed to destroy. What she has is an appeal to truth, which is wonderful and following it can yield many benefits. But other things are occurring in this world
thelerner Posted August 10, 2018 In my view, Rand has good ideas but takes them to an extreme where they're negative.
Lost in Translation Posted August 10, 2018 That was a very good video. I would like to have that in transcript form, since there is so much there it is easy to overlook most of what she says. I found her book Atlas Shrugged very enjoyable. It says in 800 pages what this video says in 8 minutes, but uses fiction and drama to make the point. We can definitely have a great conversation on this topic.
