Dependent Origination & Eternity

Recommended Posts

It's occurred to me that it might be of interest and of value to some people as a starting point for (possibly silent) reflection.

I don't remain silent very long.

Yes, I have accepted the concept of dependent origin.  Can't accept eternity though.

Are you saying that dependent origination has a beginning and an ending?

Yes and no.  (I know, not a good answer.)

There is a beginning and an end for all thing-nesses.

Once upon a time there was no physical (thingness) universe.

I hold to the concept of cycles therefore,

At some point in time there will no longer be a universe.

But the potential for a new universe always exists.

Call it Dao?  Or God?  Whatever.  I like potential as that word isn't offensive.

I feel that's a great answer, especially as you then explained it.
