wandelaar Posted October 1, 2018 As we can read in the above link one of our Bums has published a new Tao Te Ching translation. See: https://www.amazon.com/Dao-Jing-Clear-English-Translation/dp/173206380X Any comments on this new book?
Marblehead Posted October 1, 2018 I had a look. Looks good. I'm sure I will be spending more time with it later.
dawei Posted October 1, 2018 I reviewed chapter by chapter for them, down to whether they used a wrong character and to consider word meaning. It has a novel layout and I would say it is the closest to a 'student-study focus' in a way. Each chapter starts with just the english on the left and a chinese calligraphy on the right. Then the next pages do what we've done at TDB when studying it: It has three lines as: 道可道,非常道 dào kě dào fēi cháng dào Path | can be | spoken | not | eternal/everlasting path After the chapters are some notes and some of the more important words in a glossary. I actually have a few copies and would be willing to mail up to 3 out if someone wants to cover shipping.
wandelaar Posted October 1, 2018 I like to buy the book, but I live in the Netherlands. I suppose you live in the US? In that case it would probably be more practical for me to buy the book somewhere in Europe... I also see on Amazon that the book comes in two versions: one with 378 pages and one with 116 pages... Basil Posted November 30, 2018 This looks like a fascinating new edition. Dawei, does this offer still stand?
