Megantara Posted October 2, 2018 Hi, greetings from me. i have been thinking about this for a while: 1. is chi measurable (in a sense is there a maximum ammount of chi we can store) 2. if lower dan tien is used to store the majority of chi, and its said that dan tien is located in our stomach, does that means people with larger build get more benefit with having more space inside? 3. if there is a maximum capacity we can store the chi, what happens when we reach that point? 4. is the tightness i feel inside my stomach be my dan tian? recently i felt like i'm more muscular in that area thats said to be dan tian location, but i can't feel it as a ball of energy or any ball at all... just tight like flexing muscle, which sometimes cold, sometimes warm, and some other times disappear. thank you, and hoping to learn and get guidance from you seniors and masters

Jeff Posted October 2, 2018 Welcome to the bums. Some answers for you below... 7 hours ago, Megantara said: Hi, greetings from me. i have been thinking about this for a while: 1. is chi measurable (in a sense is there a maximum ammount of chi we can store) Yes, it is sort of measurable and there is a theoretical maximum one can store. The female energy body can actually store more than a male one (at the same relative level). 7 hours ago, Megantara said: 2. if lower dan tien is used to store the majority of chi, and its said that dan tien is located in our stomach, does that means people with larger build get more benefit with having more space inside? Physical body size has nothing to do with chi/energy. Chi is stored at the energy body layer/level. 7 hours ago, Megantara said: 3. if there is a maximum capacity we can store the chi, what happens when we reach that point? You hopefully realize beyond the concept of the local body mind, otherwise your capacity/ability is limited. The Tao Te Ching chapter 28 describes the higher stages. A full body would be like the beginning where you “know the strength of a man”. 7 hours ago, Megantara said: 4. is the tightness i feel inside my stomach be my dan tian? recently i felt like i'm more muscular in that area thats said to be dan tian location, but i can't feel it as a ball of energy or any ball at all... just tight like flexing muscle, which sometimes cold, sometimes warm, and some other times disappear. It is unlikely that it would feel like a tightness at the stomach. But, at early stages it can sometimes feel like temperature changes. More commonly it feels a vibrational feel. 7 hours ago, Megantara said: thank you, and hoping to learn and get guidance from you seniors and masters 2
Megantara Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) Thank you very much for the welcoming party, and especially to jeff for giving simple to understand answer (except #4, i'm still trying to digest that, lol). So, about the tightness i feel, it could be chi cleansing reaction, or blockage then? Edit: sorry, apparently that tightness inside my stomach that i've been feeling was just simple bowel movement, its gone now after i went to toilet. Still long way to go then. again, thank you Edited October 2, 2018 by Megantara 1

So, about the tightness i feel, it could be chi cleansing reaction, or blockage then? Sure on a potential blockage. Until much later stages, one does not really feel the chi (movement). It is much more that you feel the resistance to movement of the chi hitting some obstruction. In normal mind terms, obstructions are subconscious issues and fears that block the flow. Flow increases with letting go of these issues and fears (karma). So rather than a tightness or clenching, a good flow would feel more like an “unclenching”. At a mental level, rather than pushing or forcing, it is like you now have more mental space or room to move. 1
Megantara Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) got it, so its like stop trying to relax, but just enjoy the moment, and explore what i see/feel with my eyes closed? I'm trying to feel the insides of my stomach as in when i know where to scratch even i don't know where the mosquito bites me, is that right way, or again i'm trying too much? edit: which in the end shows that i don't get it yet Edited October 2, 2018 by Megantara
Jeff Posted October 2, 2018 Yes, it is not about forcing, maybe think of it more like exploring the body region and being curious. Sort of simply reside in it. As an example, I am going to send you an “energy hug” now. As you read this message, just relax and see what you can feel or sense. If you get something, you get it. If you don’t, you don’t. Just a game and be curious, no winning or losing.
Megantara Posted October 2, 2018 i felt my face, head, arms and neck being blanketed by something like when i'm meditating. Thank you very much, i'm sending you energy hug back, hope i did it right
Jeff Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) Very cool that you could feel/sense it, and yes, I could feel your return hug connection. It makes sense that your mind would translate it into something like you feel when you are meditating, but what you have done is a little different than that. Maybe think of it more like you are consciously accessing the "higher mental" space you touch on when meditating, making it easier for you to actually feel/sense the energy. Qi is not really like gas in your car, some people have more dynamic qi than others and so on, or circulate it better or are more tuned into it. While there is a quantitative side to it - really its more about something that transmits information/movement in your being. Maybe you could think of it as a vibration? Its more about how operational it is than how much there is. 2. The Lower Dan Tien is in your abdomen - located about 1.3 inches below your navel and in line with a vertical line rising from your perineum, not your stomach. The size of your build is irrelevant. 3. The idea for health is to circulate qi naturally and also to transform it into shen in the middle Dan Tien to promote health and mental function - unless you are doing internal alchemy when there are other processes involved. 4. This sounds more like your solar plexus area, if it is tension then natural breathing should release it, or make circular motions on your body with your hands until it warms slightly.
