Wu Ming Jen Posted October 5, 2018 A great documentary Of Pui Chan Kung Fu pioneer is available on Amazon prime. Pui Chan was my first Teacher at 16 years of age.I was extremely lucky for this to be my first experience of Kung Fu as a kid. I attended the first Kung Fu Temple in the USA In Orlando FL and the satellite school in ft Myers FL. To have an actual kung fu master as my first teacher has lead me on an incredible journey. After meeting a Taoist priest I now study Wudang Kung Fu. The low stance training I had at a young age made the low stances of Wudang easy for me. I encourage all martial artist to watch this amazing life story Of Pui Chan. It is more than just What we see as kung fu his life story and how he came to america is amazing, the film is done really well. The video is when Master Pui Chan is about 73 years old. When I studied he was in his thirties. I also recommend looking up his performances at all ages as well. Tam Tui means spring leg which Master Chan demonstrates brilliantly.

vonkrankenhaus Posted October 5, 2018 I know him from the early 70s in Boston. And lots of other people from the Boston Gongfu scene in the 70s - Mark Bow Sim, Kwong Tit Fu, Tang Kwok Wah, even Lee Yat Ming, and others - and their students. Great people - all of them, and a fun time there with them. -VonKrankenhaus

Yes, that was basically next door. A few strip clubs, some porno theaters, etc. Not too big of an area. Donnie Yen's mother Mark Bow Sim sent him out of there to study back in HK & China - too much potential for trouble. I heard once Chan Pui was knock out by a guy in a bar there. That was a story circulating among students of other clubs. Our club at that time is 3rd floor, broken windows, and we hear drunken fights going on in the alley all the time. We look over at each other, shrug, then just keep class going. -VonKrankenhaus 2

When the Ft Myers school opened over the alter there were to crossed feathers which meant we were not allowed to take challenges.
