HI!, First Post, Qigong and Zhan Zhuang

Hi all, 

 

This looked like a really useful board to join as I’m trying to learn zhan zhuang and qigong and wanted to ask some questions about them (mainly Zhan Zhuang).

 

I’m from Scotland, but live in Bangkok, and can’t find any qigong teachers here, so I am trying to learn on my own.

 

A few people have pointed me towards videos and books, e.g., Lam Kam Chuen’s books and videos for Zhan Zhuang, and others have told me NOT to learn on my own as it can cause problems, so I’d like to dig a bit deeper on those issues because without a teacher, my only option is self-learning at the moment.

Welcome. ZZ is OK to try on your own, your body will correct itself if you stand for long enough. Just make sure to do your research, practice. There’s a few people on here who do great ZZ logs. Enjoy!

 

You are welcome to jump right in to the ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forum to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

Hi Hermit,

 

I've been teaching myself ZZ for the last 3 years and I'm quite happy with my progress. I've got a personal practice log below with a lot of my experiences. My best advice is to keep the practice short so your motivation stays high. In time, the duration will naturally increase in its own way.
