whitesilk Posted October 28, 2018 This 9th century monk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linji_Yixuan#Three_Mysterious_Gates has made me chuckle. When I started my path around 10 years prior to now, I read Burton Watson's (? forgot that last name) translation of the Lotus Sutra. In that translation, I was instructed to never slander a Sutra, as that would be the worst possible offensive karmic condition. So Ten years after, reading Linji causes me to chuckle. Patrick Brown Posted November 5, 2018 Reminds me of all those, often very funny, Zen stories where they always seem to be taking theirs shoes off and slapping each other around the face with them!! As for the three gates, well, two of them often seem to serve the same purpose!!
