Amansaari,

I work on these things all the time. a slipped disk isn't something to take lightly and can cause permanent damage if not taken care of at early stages. I suggest you have someone that is versed in this type of ailment professionally take a look at it.

I work part time in a chinese medical clinic where we perform traditional bone manipulation procedures for this. Usually that involves traction by stretching to opposites of the vertebrae and having the doctor put that disk back in place by hand. This is a rare procedure and can only be done by someone versed in traditional bone setting procedures from china or other countries.

Have a professional take a look at it. I don't encourage surgery as some Western doctors will recommend. If it comes to that and you have no other sources contact me.

I have mostly healed. I want to go the full way. I was looking at Taoist practices. I heard that deficiency of kidney yang can lead to neck problems. Is this true ? Please respond with qigong/taoist methods to take care of slipped disk problems in the neck.

That is interesting. Are there any studies that confirm that this can be done?

When a disc herniates, the outer fibrous layer of the disc tears open and allows the soft, gelatinous inner material to protrude out. It is a very small amount of material (smaller than a marble, usually smaller than a pea), and is buried deep under several inches of bone and muscle. If one could somehow manage to get through several inches of bone and muscle and manually replace the gelatinous material without damaging the delicate nerve the disc material is resting on (which falls apart when grasped with instruments), the outer fibrous tissue remains torn and there is nothing to keep it from protruding again. One would need to do an MRI before and after the procedure you describe to demonstrate that what you are describing is physically possible. If such a study has been done, I'd love to see it. I don't mean to be disrespectful but I am concerned when people describe such procedures because to my knowlege they have never been demonstrated to work by appropriate investigation and could potentially be very harmful.

The good news is that the majority of people get better spontaneously. If you have persistent numbness or any muscle weakness, clumsiness, loss of bowel or bladder control, or sexual dysfunction, I would strongly recommend that you see a medical specialist immediately.

Xuesheng,

Yes you are correct in everything you say and I don't think you're being disrespectful. I think we have before and after MRIs availabe for this. During this procedure we also allow the patient to rest for quite a while and take herbal treatments for recovery. These skills are very rare so you do have a right to be skeptical. However, my Master has also been considered a national treasure in medicine when he was in China. There are some things you just cannot explain and these skills are taught and learned from generation to generation and not just any "joe" can learn them.

Those skills come from a long line of masters practicing the tradtional bone setting skills and medicine from Shaolin, the real temple not the commercial, business like monks you see these days.

Fascinating - do you mind sharing more info about your shifu and where you work?

Does your facility have a website?

I'd be interested in learning more.

Thanks,

I have had problems with a protrusion at L-5. It hasn't bothered me lately, but the best remedy I have found is lots of sleep. Your body replenishes synovial fluid in your sleep. It is essential if you want to heal.

Sean D posted a link about serrapeptase a few weeks ago. I started on that stuff just yesterday and I have already noticed a pretty substantial improvement in the scoliosis related upper back pain I have had for years. The inflammation has decreased quite a bit.

When I was doing Tai Chi my spine actually straightened out quite a bit.

On a side note the Serrapeptase also dramatically reduced the size of a fatty cyst that has been in my back for months. This happened overnight. Good stuff.

I did a google on Serrapeptase it seems like its good for a lot of things.

What dosage are you taking.

Is it combined with anything or pure.

There seem to be many combinations here in the states.

Do you know how to locate Sean D's post

Thanks
