Encephalon Posted August 19, 2019 Has anyone else read this? The most important Buddhist work I've read in a decade. Cuts to the chase about unconscious conditioning and how to free ourselves from it.
Encephalon Posted August 20, 2019 The biggest producer of Window Pane LSD goes on to become a Zen master and the 83rd Patriarch of the Rinzai Zen school of Buddhism. One of the best stories of modern enlightenment, of the integration of Eastern mystical wisdom with Western psychological insight, in years. Who is ready to wake up? One of the best stories of modern enlightenment, of the integration of Eastern mystical wisdom with Western psychological insight, in years. Who is ready to wake up? A group trip? I'm in. When you mention that about LSD, it reminds me that Bill Wilson (founder of AA) started experimenting with it in his 24th year of sobriety from alcohol, along with his friends Aldous Huxley and Gerald Heard. Wilson was convinced that LSD would help 'open the heart' of people wanting to get sober but unable to relate to the second step (Came to believe that a power greater than himself could restore him to sanity). He participated in LSD trials going on at a veteran's hospital as well.
Mskied Posted August 26, 2019 (edited) Its a pretty simple concept to grasp, but a hard one to avert. We are the product of everything around us, and the people that represent what we find ourselves interacting with, and the reactions to their actions and our expectations of who they should be and how they act, as well as the way they react to our actions that are a reaction to theirs. Getting out of this web is hard enough, but harder still is to design a web that is more in line with what is acceptable to you, and to us. Also hard is convincing anyone that this would be the way it "should" be. In order to accomplish this one needs to decide what is Good, declare the Law of the people, and define each role in that society according to the expectation that their actions will result in the perfect vision of the Good you declared.
