Yeah, I disagreed with your assertion the population of the US is iodine deficient, and you blocked me..

Don't much care, it's a public forum, and I'll still type what I wish - whether you'll be reading it or not.

BTW The "can't see her posts" bit is a tad dishonest, as when someone is blocked you can still click "show post" on any post they make.

Ho hum and ladi da..

Ilum, if you do more reading on research done by specialized MDs in this area (Broda Barnes MD, David Brownstein MD, Guy Abraham MD, Jorge Flechas MD for starters), you may find yourself agreeing with SJ on this issue. :)

Or not. But you're not going to get the in-depth understanding from WebMD and the like.

Back to the topic:

A few years back, while I was still living in Wisconsin, Winter arrived, and the world went white - except my yard. For a few days as I was driving to work I contemplated this, and observed everywhere else I looked was white. Then came the thought, "people are going to start to notice," and ask questions and make assumptions..

I eventually found my way to, "I've got to stop holding on so tightly," the snow came, and my yard was as lovely and white as the surrounding area.

Does anyone else have similar experience?

Hi Earl,

I understand the desire to "go to bat" for star, and in the past I often made my own excuses for his behavior toward others.

He may have martial skill, but as evidenced by his interactions with others, dating back to the early 2000's, his interpersonal skills are lacking, and while once I was hopeful for growth, all I've seen over the years is the habituated reactions of an over sized persona - quite able to dish it out, but not so able to take it.

Perhaps in real life he is the sweety he claims to be, although I've come to suspect this is also part of the persona, and what is suppressed there (in everyday life) comes bubbling out online..

If one wishes to act like the biggest asshole in the room, then they shouldn't be surprised when people start to believe they're the biggest asshole in the room and treat them accordingly.. even if they claim to only be trolling and super sweet "irl."

Hey, I’m not defending him so much as I’m saying, “This is Starjumper, no more no less.”

Some people say he has no skill, and that reflects in his attitude, others say he has skill and his attitude has just resigned himself to not giving a damn about what others see. He’s a biker boy with a sailor’s mouth, and while he shares the opinion about Josh with regards to Walker and my own view that self-initiation is iffy at best, the difference is that he’s now focused on Josh as a person rather than what Josh is doing—this I disagree with, even if I see where it might be coming from.

It’s a kind of frustration that comes from wanting to keep the well from being poisoned and saving people or educating them, but one thing I catch myself doing is teaching here and most people in life aren’t interested in learning unless they pay you.

Josh has laid the path that he wishes to drive his jaguar on in his flamboyant attire, and  I made fun of him in the first two pages, as I had already specified on page 4 why we were cynical and defensive: assuming he was arrogant like other self-initiates or power seekers from Heartbreak to boerwoers to lightseeker or Goku. But it turned out he’s just eccentric and flamboyant, and a jolly fellow, so I’ve apologized and welcomed and accepted him, which Starjumper did too initially.

Now I do agree with Walker on tradition from a Taoist perspective, and my own values reflect this. However, when I consult the Akashic about people like Josh, the MTLs tell me that he’s one of many people reflecting a change in the spirit world and dynamics of the universe, not just norms and traditions, and it isn’t just because of technology, it’s our species conscious evolution.

So while at times I bite my tongue for some people and lash out at others, I’m saying I get Starjumper and I get Josh both: the frustration of maintaining the integrity of tradition and practice for safety and pedigree for the former, and the sincerity of carving one’s own path in spite of conventional or orthodox caveats warning against it for the latter.

As it shows, their personalities come out. I sure wasn’t friendly towards other members here in recent history, but I’m also speaking as someone who is trying to empathize with Starjumper and his frustration without necessarily defending it, because that was offered to me by others who saw my rage here and had patience and understanding. I can only hope Josh takes feedback like from Walker gracefully and Steve can focus on graceful criticism too, given that Josh can modulate his emotions through his weather practice, and Starjumper can use his Taijiquan practice to find emptiness.

I didn't go to WebMD, I went to the American Thyroid Association, and another thyroid specialist I cited in the thread whose name was somewhat inconsequential to me, and quickly forgotten.

But thanks for the reply, and the manner in which you shared in the other thread. It's nice to have actual conversation without the name calling and bullying manner.

Is most of your attire custom-tailored?

Yes, most of my suits are bespoke. Very often, I will commission one-off pieces such as this long purple and orange leather coat. It's the only one of its kind in the world, based on my drawings of the concept. You can see the four directional star symbol on the back, that is a Mayan hieroglyph and zodiac sign called "The Lamat Star" which is a massive part of my spiritual practice. I start by creating a rough concept on paper, I then send it over to a professional 3D model expert and we work together with the tailor to refine the final details. I work with a lot of studios/craftsmen/tailors all over the world to bring my visions to life. I'm not the type of person who would spend a few grand on a Tom Ford suit, if I'm spending that much money I want to make sure I have something nobody else has, a true one of a kind piece.

Your attire at times seems a little oversized and undersized or a mix of the two, so that’s why I suspected that was a deliberate aesthetic choice. B)

If I don’t get things custom made because of my odd body proportions for my height, build, facial shape, and hair, I tend to look like a teen even more than when I dress in my usual grunge or 70s punk aesthetic. Had to use a style guide to check because I don’t like dressing like a professional or my physical age at all, and considering facial shape, season, hair, and style takes more time than I care to think about that I would prefer to put towards cultivation or my hobbies instead.

You make it work.

Maybe he gives a damn about people like Josh doing what Josh is doing, but he doesn’t seem to give a damn about how he expresses it, even if it can be quite harsh...it might work for some people, mostly close students, but Josh is not his student. So I’m not sure if that approach will work, given that public opinion turned against him for it, and he appears to not care about it even if he’s replying to people calling him out.

I think he could write a book of insults and monetize it more than getting worked up here though.

I'm such a pushover in real life.  When I go to town people think I'm such a nice guy, real quiet and shy, you know.  But I hardly ever go into town.  There's just something about this forum that brings out my true self  ;)  I won't say what it is about this forum right now cuz people might get trolled.  Maybe later.

I think it's the anonymity of emoting behind avatars.  I think this venue is wonderful to discover the true feelings of ourselves and others.  And I think that since it's anonymous, people can be much more hurtful online, not having to actually confront someone.  But it's also a display of the character we've developed.  If we take advantage of our avatars to be a jerk, that tells heaps about the person posting.  I think that how we behave on forums such as this are good gauges (or gages?  Gaajuz?) for our own spiritual growth.  If someone's constantly getting into chingazos here, that's pretty telling that there's inner work left to do.  I don't think enlightenment occurs in duality.

That’s nice to hear about the real you.
When people are anonymous and sitting behind a computer screen they do tend to behave differently - more dismissive, more rude, less understanding, more aggressive. Just look at Facebook and Twitter. It’s nauseating how rude we can be to each other. I’m that way sometimes, far less than I used to be.

I don’t see the angry internet troll as the “true self.” I see it as a more artificial self created by isolation and electronic communication. I think your true self is who you are face to face, in town, wherever, interacting with fellow humans in person. I’d love to know that side of you, and all the other blustery keyboard warriors.

How interesting the first three pages here were hazing for Josh, then jovial welcoming from most of us, then a discussion on self-initiation and traditional learning from Walker, a brief absence, and now the ribbing here on page 20 is no longer directed at Josh but at Starjumper.

If there's any metaphorical weather magic here, it appears that it's the winds of changing fortunes.

If this thread goes to another 20 pages, I wonder what it will look like then.

At the very least, it looks like Josh is a welcome member of the community given that everyone active on the forum has said something that shows their personalities and skills on this thread!

Thats becasue , although sailing through stormy weather  Lord Josh did so with   intelligence,  thoughtful answers... and  all without  loosing his smirk  !   Bravo  !

Whereas Starjumper ....  well, just look at the ignorant  things he surmises about Shamanism .

And his general mood  ....

I guess you could say that trolling for idiots is a kind of bullying.  I think it's seen as bullying because it works so well.  It's kind of fun, it causes people to show their true natures.  I LIKE it.

Probably becasue  if you acted the way you do here , in town , in 'real life'    you would get beat up  by the locals .

And being a dick here gives you no 'threat of moderation'   ... hence your 'true self' emerging .   ;)

The reason I mentioned it like this is because I lived in the US in the West, and here I live in cattle country; and wizards are like Ninjas, in that they (the real ones) like to blend in with the crowd and not stand out like clowns in costumes.

Lard Ass implied that if someone doesn't like man boobs or flat chests then there is nothing else.  But there IS something else, which Lard Ass evidently is unaware of, called a well formed body, like this :)

Ya, but after the enlightenment experience thinking resumes once again, and thinking is always dualistic because that's how the mind works.  Your other observations about hiding behind an avatar are good, but I think you noticed how I tend to respond calmly to mature posters and tease the immature ones.

Also, it's painfully obvious which ones are lying to themselves all the time.
