Quote A tasteless light smoke, Mullein is revered as a highly medicinal herb that cleanses lung infections and inflammation. It's an expectorant, meaning that it helps in breaking up respiratory congestion and promotes productive coughing. Since Mullein has no flavor, it makes a great base for an herbal smoking blend. Mullein that is too dry won't smoke smoothly, so add a little moisture and rub the leaves together for the best result. And it's also a tough pioneer plant that grows like a weed anywhere. So, it's very easy to grow. In fact, it's often invasive, so you should try to contain it if you do decide to grow it. Might be tough to procure here as my area now has additional lockdown measures starting today given that the virus is now at 140 people nationwide in barely a short stretch of time since the last tally. The only things open will be the grocery in limited capacity with few people allowed in, banks, and pharmacies. And if procuring it if it's indigenous here, my condo might need a few extra pots to handle growing it. Are you with a good stock of these to use yourself? Most people here are just going to use their left hand and a bucket of water, but we are approaching summer and the inevitable drought from climate change affecting the usual rain patterns.... gendao Posted March 15, 2020 ^ It's actually native to Asia...although I'm not sure about the PI? I'm already stocked on TP, but this has been on my wishlist to grow just because of how useful and medicinal it is. Quote Mullein is a soothing relaxant for irritable respiratory conditions and is a pectoral demulcent which means it is an anti-irritant herb rich in mucilage that is soothing, lubricating and offers protection to inflamed or irritable mucous surfaces. It promotes healing, helps reduce cough severity, ease expectoration and clear the lungs. Mullein is also a mild sedative and mild antispasmodic. It may be used for asthma, whooping cough, emphysema, hay fever, pleurisy, bronchitis, tonsillitis, influenza, respiratory and sinus congestion, urinary tract infections, nervous tension and insomnia. External use for earache (flowers in olive oil), sores, wounds, boils, rheumatic pain and hemorrhoids. Mullein combines well with Horehound, Lobelia and Coltsfoot for bronchitis. You can typically ingest it as a tea or smoke/smudge it... The latter is probably the best for lung healing. 1

Trunk Posted March 16, 2020 I recently contacted my local dr of Chinese medicine, and her reply included this link. Really interesting and makes sense: this started in China, so they’ve been aggressively researching and treating with Chinese herbs. I seriously encourage people to establish communication with your local (and hopefully competent; it’s a varied field) doctor of Chinese medicine. During normal times, *If* you are healthy, experimenting with Chinese herbs can be fun/helpful, maybe only mildly dangerous. When you get sick, it becomes a VERY different situation and getting the RIGHT formula (NOT the wrong one) becomes critical. This link is especially interesting: https://www.activeherb.com/blog/the-official-tcm-formula-thats-successfully-treating-covid-19-patients-in-china.html Her reply in full: Quote Ok. This going going to be long. But it’s just a small bit of the info we’ve compiled. We also have a prevention formula for patients. We are available for phone or video consults for anyone who is sick. Covid-19 or not. No one who is sick is allowed in the clinic right now. We’re only doing herb formulas for that. A combination of fresh air and sunlight seems to have prevented deaths among patients; and infections among medical staff.[1] There is scientific support for this. Research shows that outdoor air is a natural disinfectant. Fresh air can kill the flu virus and other harmful germs. Equally, sunlight is germicidal and there is now evidence it can kill the flu virus." I worked many years in a public hospital . Sometimes patients developed nasty infections that where meds resistant . The first time this happened, I was gobsmacked - a nurse asked me to help her move a patient in a bed , with such an infection, out onto the verandah in the sunlight . After, when I asked why , she told me that when this happens, they treat them with fresh air , sunlight and bath the wound in sterile salty water .

Stosh Posted March 17, 2020 It seems that emergencies require very specific supplies. For Corona, buy eggs and TP , for hurricanes, get tarps n pop-tarts. Nuclear war requires desks to hide beneath. And for nerve gas attacks we duct tape. But.. What do we need for earthquakes? Fire extinguishers ?
Stosh Posted March 17, 2020 Dark Humor aside,.. Yesterday,I didn't have a lunch packed. And when that time rolled around , I momentarily considered my regular fast food establishment. Should I still eat there? With this Corona thing going around? What if they sneezed all over my burger? And it occurred to me ,that there was a chance of this LAST year, and the year before that, and so on, stretching back to my birthday , and through past lives I don't even know about. And I was comforted, because they ALREADY try not to sneeze on our food. There has ALWAYS been , such threats, and OTHER kinds. EVERY day ,we get up, and negotiate hazards just as bad as Corona, and of the same sort. I wanted to share this deep insight, Which no one else has thought of.

Spotless Posted March 17, 2020 Just a quick note: I found that several small spray bottles of rubbing alcohol are very effective in sanitizing: It is not necessary to open a container of wipes (and dispose of the wipe) One spray on one hand is more than enough for both hands Can easily carry in pockets Fine mist can clean keys and fobs and phones and door knobs and steering wheels and shift knobs - can be purchased super small or as large as you want.

Just be sure that the alcohol content is higher than 60% but lower than 85% otherwise it will do next to nothing
