rookie Posted April 1, 2008 Hello, I am fairly new to qigong and taoism, but very interested. I am a bit surprised by the variety of systems and the commercialism surrounding this practice, which is mainly a spiritual practice for me, but also for health benefits, like reduced stress. My goals from the beginning have been to achieve balance and bring the calm and awareness from meditation into my physical and mental everyday life. Taiji Bum Posted April 1, 2008 Welcome to da Bums. Yeah, the comercialism sucks. I heard a saying once that says, "The reason there are so many false teachers and teachings because there are so many false students." Â The three guides of Taoism 1- Study the Tao Teh Ching. 2- Practice sitting/not doing (emptiness meditation). 3- Apply the lessons learned from the first 2 guides to your life. Â Everything else is commentary and supplamental to Taoism. This doesn't apply to religious Taoism.
