JimmyD Posted April 25, 2008 Hey guys, I was doing a google search for "Defend against NLP" and ran across Oolong Rabbit's post http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showtopic=4821 Anyways, I saw a shaman recently in Thailand and she suggested that I start learning and following Tao, in addition to practicing Tai Chi. She suggested a book called something like "Dragon's Gate - teaching of a Taoist Wizard" and I was wondering if this book sounds like it, and if it's a good one for an intro into Taoism- http://www.amazon.com/Opening-Dragon-Gate-...6113&sr=8-1 Thanks and I look forward to being a part of this forum =)
joeblast Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) Opening the Dragon Gate is a very interesting book! I dont know about it necessarily being an intro to taoism though...its the story of Wang Liping's upbringing into the tradition. I did a weeklong training with a student of his to learn their opening standing form, it was an awesome experience! Oolong Rabbit is the man....havent seen him around here in a while! Anyway, welcome to the forum Edited April 25, 2008 by joeblast
JimmyD Posted April 25, 2008 Thanks for the welcome =) Do you (or does anyone else) have a good recommendation for an intro book? I'd rather know more about Tao before I read a story about a Taoist.
Taiji Bum Posted April 26, 2008 Welcome to da Bums. For an intro book I'd suggest anything by Eva Wong like her Shambala Guide to Taoist and definately get the Tao Teh Ching which is sorta like the bible of philosophical Taoism.
