Yoda Posted May 19, 2008 I've always thought that it would be way cool to have a current lunar phase photo on this site. I mentioned it to Sean and he said he was open to the thought. I don't know how easy that would be to actually do and I know Sean has other fish to fry, so I've not bugged him about it.

voidisyinyang Posted May 20, 2008 Actually the full moon energy is strongest 3 nights before and 3 nights after -- according to qigong master Chunyi Lin. So I think it was Friday night when the energy was so overwhelming and THEN I realized it was the full moon. Usually that's how it happens for me -- as Chunyi Lin states the meditation is 10 times stronger than normal. This is true!
Taomeow Posted May 20, 2008 Actually the full moon energy is strongest 3 nights before and 3 nights after -- according to qigong master Chunyi Lin. So I think it was Friday night when the energy was so overwhelming and THEN I realized it was the full moon. Usually that's how it happens for me -- as Chunyi Lin states the meditation is 10 times stronger than normal. This is true! If master Chunyi Lin was a woman attuned to the natural cycles of the moon, "she" would know otherwise. The three days before the full moon would be PMS (if attuned women were to suffer from that, but they don't), and the three days after would be the second, third, fourth days of the period, getting progressively weaker. But the day of the full moon would be the first day of the period, and the strongest at that. Â Three days before the period, the woman is less of a woman and closer to a man than at any other time, because her estrogen is at the lowest point. Estrogen is a metabolite of testosterone, i.e. its next metabolic step; usually men don't convert most of their testosterone (although they do convert some, and have some estrogen -- some yin within their yang), while women convert most of their testosterone into estrogen (though not all -- they keep some yang within their yin). However, in the three days before the period, they don't convert whatever testosterone they have into estrogen, so their testosterone levels are the highest at this point. (On assorted spacial-orientation tests, women usually score worse than men -- EXCEPT in those three days, when they score as well as men. Testosterone is what makes you roam around, and if you have to roam around, you better know how to find your way wherever you're going and back; hence the evolutionary enhancement of this ability in men. Women who get restless when their testosterone is high may attribute it to PMS, but it's just that they aren't used to feeling this yang at other times, and it throws them off -- unless of course they are in tune with themselves and the energies of the world.) Â Full moon is the peak of yang-within-yin of the moon, from that point on, yang energy will go down and yin energy will start growing. The transformation is abrupt, one flips into the other -- the onset of the first day of the period turns the yin-yang tables. Few women and probably even fewer men today understand the dynamics of moon's energies -- because of so many unnatural influences that damage or cancel altogether the inner alignment of hormonal events in the body with natural energies of the world outside the body. E.g., light-darkness stimulation of the pituitary-pineal-hypothalamic axis which is designed to orchestrate the waxing and waning of cycles of reproductive hormones (as well as most others) is off kilter in the world of electricity and non-physiological schedules, to name just one significant factor out of ten thousand. shontonga Posted May 20, 2008 Shotonga... could you tell more on fasting related to moon phases?  Hi KoHsuan, was long ago! : ) this memory is so Shot! was vegetarian ... sculpting ... practicing lots of yoga ... ? eating lots of green slimy things also was doing lodges regularly then. So Diet was Much Better than Now, LOL.  Basically "energies" were felt stronger during that time, three days to either side of the full moon. Energies of what? the moon, the emotions, what's felt within and around one so meditation, intent, some healing work would be done then. full moon lodges are Great! Momentum from moon would kick it into over drive!  Fasting was to be done 3 days to either side/during full moon. days farther from the full moon would be gentler, not as forceful . Always was suggested when beginning that kind of practice to do it then. the nearer to the full moon the Stronger things would be. be it meditation, release(toxins/emotions/etc.),intentions, some healing.  what kind of fast? there are so many kinds. Some folks will say, this is the one, U do this ... Always listen to your own body!  Some do fruit fasts, some liquid, some dry. I tend towards liquid, this body of mine can be a lot of trouble and liquid works well for me. Liquid not meaning only water(though lots of water!) but also vegetable broths or juice watered down so not to sweet. Would take tree days of eating raw/steamed vegetables and stuff to start or finish a fast for me. U don't wanta go and binge on chocolate sundays with (Single!)whip cream when starting or finishing, better to eat healthy! won't make you so sick!LOL.  Others on here would be much better suited to talk about such stuff. I've always been a haphazard student at best! Moon has always had a very strong effect on me. When i was a child would not sleep for the week of a full moon. Can still fall into those patterns easily.  Hope others with more knowledge will share My thinking these days is chocolate cake fasts are the way to go! Good Fer What Ails Ya!  thanks for any other input here! LOl   Stay well!  Shon

hagar Posted May 20, 2008 Hmm. Â Interesting. Â I've noticed the opposite regarding full, half and no moon. When the lunar phase is at it's low point on the horizon (probably different in Norway since we're way up north) I feel at my strongest, and when the moon is at it's peak or zenith, I feel weak. Feel no difference in my system when there is full moon. I sometimes feel quite alot of Yang energy increase when the moon is at it's "smallest". Â Maybe I need to re-think my practice... Jedi777 Posted May 20, 2008 the full moon energy builds for 3 days and it is relwased to the earth at the exact moment of thr full moon and then declines for the next 3 days. This was one of the Wesak full moons of 2008 this is a rare thing to have 2 Wesak full moons in the same year! Peace Significance of Wesak  What is a Full Moon Celebration? - Return to top - full moon  Every month, students of the Ageless Wisdom Teachings gather together to listen to inspiring lectures and to participate in a group meditation. Ordinarily, these monthly meetings are organized around the full moon day, or as close to the day before the exact time as possible.  Some people mistakenly think that such students are worshipping the moon, or doing some sort of odd ceremony. In the tradition of the Teaching, no such activities take place. In truth, what is being celebrated is the Sun's position, which is in direct alignment with a zodiacal sign. The moon is full in appearance because of the position of the Sun. The celebration has nothing to do with the moon itself. In fact, many groups prefer to call such events Sun Festivals, naming the particular period as the Sun in such and such sign and so on.  Students follow what is called "esoteric astrology" in which they have learned that these are important times for reflection and meditation. The author Torkom Saraydarian, a life-long student of the Teachings, has written the following about full moon periods or Sun Festivals:  "At the time of each full moon a bridge of contact and communication is established between humanity and higher centers. It is told that this communication line even extends from planetary centers to the Solar Lord, thus building a unique channel between humanity and the Source of Life.  "At the time of each full moon, the moon is blocked by the light of the Sun in such a way that the transmission of the Sun is direct and not disturbed by the moon. Each month our Sun enters into the electromagnetic field of one of the signs of the Zodiac and transmits its energy to earth, either directly or via the ruling planets of that sign.  "This is why the full moon days are called days of opportunity, especially at the exact moment of the full moon when the alignment of all the planetary and solar centers is in its highest state of sensitivity and contact.  "This opportunity for contact is a moment of regeneration, a moment in which one can again contact his lost vision or contact a new and greater vision, charge all his being, and set his steps right on the path of evolution and service.  "The full moon period is the right time to make a spiritual breakthrough for greater cooperation with the Hierarchy of the planet and with the light of the Inner Guide. At the time of the full moon there is a greater opportunity to annihilate many obstacles and hindrances in one's nature.  "This contact, carried on all over the world with great spiritual centers, releases a tremendous energy all over the plant. This energy makes the Etheric body of the planet more sensitive to the Plan and to Divine Will, and inspires all aspirants to reach a greater vision."  Symphony of the Zodiac by Torkom Saraydarian, pp. xv-xvi. Taomeow Posted May 21, 2008 throwing flower petals in your direction, for sharing matriarchal wisdom Thank you! Yesterday's full moon was, according to the Native American calendar, the Full Flower Moon! Â So here's a tip for those interested in moon magic: if you pour some clean water into a bowl and, on a full moon night, place it outside so that the moon reflects in it, and keep catching the reflection for a few hours, you will get Moon Water, which has numerous magical uses. It will cure an ailing plant if you water it with this potion. It will clarify the complexion if you use it as a lotion. It will improve the texture and luster of your hair if you rinse with it. It makes a good yin tonic if you drink it. Finally, it can be used in assorted spells, mostly love spells but also curses and hexes -- depending on what you mix it with and what you intend it to accomplish. Â I kid you not. lotusbud Posted May 21, 2008 Last year I kept daily records of my practice experience and after a few months a clear pattern surrounding the lunar cycles was apparent. Â Always the days before and after are a bit of a wild ride. I never thought of fasting and or eating less on those days, just practicing more, taking advantage of the extra energy to do some vigourous exercise... I'm definitely adding this to my routine.
