Hi, I am narayana I am from India. I am interested in Taoist meditation. Nice to meet you all.

Welcome! Why can you not follow Buddhist meditation? They should be the same.

Narayana is from India. Only about 0.7% of the total population of India is Buddhist. About 80% is Hindu, and about 14% Islam.

What I am saying was that we all breathe the same way. It doesn't matter who we are.

Obviously. So why ask OP about Buddhist meditation instead of the Taoist meditation, as they should be the same???

My point is if he did the Buddhist meditation, then, he had already done the same as the Taoist meditation. What he wants is readily available, then, why should he be asking for something else.

OP did not say they did any Buddhist meditation.

Really? OP lives In India, that’s 99.3% non-Buddhist.

Now why would you assume the OP did Buddhist meditation? I repeat India is 99.7% non-Buddhist.

Should he go to China then. Other than seeking it within India? He could have done yoga breathing.

What makes you assume Buddhist meditation is more readily available to OP than Taoist meditation? I repeat India is 99.7% non-Buddhist.

I don't think people in India ever practiced Taoism. There would be a greater chance to find a Buddhist in India. I think!

Really? It’s a huge country. And with only 0.7% being Buddhist, there might not be any Buddhist centre near to OP.

Anyway, I guess you actually meant to inform @Narayana that Taoist meditation is identical to Buddhist meditation. The whole Bodidharma story I guess.

Is “yoga breathing” the same as Buddhist/Taoist meditation?

If you believe that Qigong is about breathing, yes. Somehow, I had an impression that when Dharma went to China, he introduced Yoga to the Shaolin monks. It seems that Qigong is the derivative of Yoga.

It might be that Qigong is related more to Kalari / Kalaripayattu (Defence aspect of the art) and Acupressure has some similarities with Varma or Marma.(Medical aspect of the art).

Based on what I have read the definitions online, I disagree with the former but agree with the latter. The latter is more like acupressure.

When it comes to meditation- Taoist, Buddhist, etc.. the most important thing is focus.  Staying focused and not getting thrown off track, caught up in trivialities or ego.
