Imho opinion the old chinese masters knew very well what they were talking about, but in general the western mind has closed itself off for what truths lay therein.

This is nice to know. How can you justify that?

oh I can't, just as you cannot justify what you say.

But it is based on reading the secret of the golden flower after several years of diligent training with a good teacher.

I can assure you those woolly sounding stories that are told as signs along the road are very literal.

Just as the dan, or the dantien is not (just) your abdomen, it is a hot ball whirring in the space we call abdomen, I guess this is the source of a lot of ' mysterious' energy work.

Which part that I cannot justify?

none of it, you 'explain' a chinese concept into western terms and imho you miss the point completely.

that's not a problem, but it's not 'truth' its just what you believe

Thank you! There is a difference in beliefs. One can believe something blindly. One can believe something with understanding.

When life presents us with choices, with directions to follow and a need for action/reaction...

Some people follow their hearts,

Some people use their heads,

Some follow their gut instinct.

How different life would be if we had approached these three centres differently in some of the choices we made...

Listening to the heart can create so much trouble, if the gut is telling you strongly, use your head,,, listen to your gut...

Instinct - Facts?

Well I guess you could see it like that.

Do you work much with MDT ChiDragon?

Loving Kindness Meditation, Metta, Inner Smile?

there's also a difference between beliefs and lived experience, will leave it at that.

CD doesn't seem to understand the difference between a hypothesis and a fact. He is positing another hypothesis with no data to back it up (his jump from the general studies he is quoting to the application thereof vis-a-vis Taichi). At least on the traditional side, ample anecdotal evidence (lived experience) exists.

If he were truly scientific in his approach, he would set up experiments, take muscle biopsies, and process them in a lab to prove his hypothesis. Then, there would be undisputable data to prove his contention (FWIW, I think it would not be successful :D )

No, I do not work with MDT at all.
I do Meditation but it is purely Taoist meditation other than Buddhist styles.

Yes, just leave it at that.  I wouldn't spend my life time to argue about it.

Yes, if I have access to a well equipped laboratory, then, I would measure the mitochondrial density in the muscles before and after the proper practice of Taij periodically to check for progress.

I expect those with experience do not need it, but many new members have come about recently and I would caution them in listening to prescriptions, claims and information offered by ChiDragon.  He has multiple times quit the board when he cannot maintain face and the false pretenses and also been suspended due to his run ins with those who actually have mastery.

He repeatedly runs amok with misinformation in areas beyond his ken and has many times over the years been schooled and revealed by those who have the time and willingness and experience to engage him mark for mark and reveal his oversights, assumptions and outright false claims.

It would be an insult accusing an aircraft test equipment design engineer that doesn't deal with facts.

I have an inborn  mitochondrial disease...

that seems to close the case.

Seafood is good for mitochondrial health I hear particularly shellfish.

I hasten to add ChiDragon if you do not work with your MDT or heart centre in any way why would you post on this thread. About opening the heart centre?

Any way when you are more open to integrating this centre into your practice and being, I’d love to talk with you more about it.

There is only so far I can get on Abdominal breathing alone.

Did you know certain native Indians believed there was egg like structure that resided just out of the body at the level of the heart chakra behind the back.

They believed it connected them to ‘the second attention’ it could all be fairytale of course but it does make for a compelling read, should you be inclined.

All the best ChiDragon , May the Chi find you good wherever you are.

For information, I have been doing a simple practice from a link I found on an other thread.

https://www.aypsite.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3296

Quote

#1: Dilate your throat to open the energy flow

Front channel block is usually concentrated in the throat. And Westerners , it is said, tend to have blockage at the throat. So even if you don't perceive a block in the throat (I never did), it's very likely that that's where the problem is.

Consider how you dilate your ear canals on an airplane to equalize pressure. Take time to examine that action quite closely. And apply that exact sort of dilation to the front portion of the base of your throat, near the collar bone (concentrating on the back of the throat will increase energy flow up and into the head, which is the opposite of what we're aiming for, though a good action to engage in pranayama for those without front channel block symptoms). Make the dilation feel warm and yawn-ish. If possible, invest the action with loving bhakti. And learn to hold the dilation for longer and longer (but please see the note on self pacing, below, before you start lengthening your hold time!).

You should feel (if not immediately, then soon) a flow of energy waves down the front of the chest and abdomen, down to the perineum. If it doesn't make it to the perineum, move the dilation down to just beneath wherever you perceive the flow to stop.

Practice this first in quiet solitude, perhaps after meditation. Then practice it at odd moments around the house. Then at work, while shopping, while driving. Get to the point where you can easily do this action at any time. It should come to feel like you're easily stretching outward a tight rubber band that otherwise constricts your throat. Again, don't forget to self-pace.

It has taken the load off from the heart, no more heart pain, my chest feels a lot lighter from doing this. I still have the brain fog / head pressure issues from energy overload but I am more relaxed and it seems to help digestion also.

It helps cope with too much energy in the chest much easier and avoid hypertension. A big relief to have found this.

Nice find! Will give it a go

It helped me few days back, I wonder if it delays / prevent the necessary build up of tension for the heart chakra area to be cleared out by flowing energy back down. For this I am quite puzzled, I am not confident yet to answer this question.

Well this is excellent advice if anyone reads and truly implements it.

Yes read, also take with a pinch of salt and make your own conclusion ;)

It is really helpful tool, if you are interested in grounding  / front channel release, regardless.
