Bhathen Posted December 3 @Taomeow A bit off topic... Have you compared the Chinese calendar and the Hindu panchang? Was curious to check out if the auspicious dates and other dates match in both (for the same place), but many instances seem to be different unless it's a strong indication then both the calendars agree on them. Why would the differences arise, is it because the calculations are different?

Why would the differences arise, is it because the calculations are different? Interesting question! No, I don't know the Hindu panchang at all. Chinese taoist system is involved enough for me, a helluva lot of stuff to learn! If you give an overview of the Hindu system, I'd be able to maybe guess at the reasons for differences. In the Chinese system there's a lot going on in general and also it's different for different individuals. There's days that are "generally" auspicious or inauspicious (e.g. the "generic" San Niang or Master-Killing days, 6 of them in every lunar month, are generally inauspicious, all other things being equal.) Then there's yearly, monthly, daily, hourly Flying Stars of which some are benevolent, some dangerous. Their impact is over particular areas -- of the continent, country, city, house, room. There's also larger periods impacted by those -- e.g. the 20 year period (our current one is new and has just started -- Period 9 -- which means things in general will be different from what they were in the 20 years of Period 8). And also individual 10-year luck periods, and smaller ones down to hourly luck, which depends on the harmonizing/balancing or clashing/disruptive interactions between one's personal bazi or Four Pillars of Destiny and that of the day (hour, month, year, or even life). Each part of this system invites someone who would undertake mastering it to go deeper and deeper, there's no bottom to any of those features mentioned, it's a fractal which is, for all practical purposes, infinite. Or rather for all theoretical purposes -- in practical terms one has to draw boundaries and stop somewhere... otherwise it would be possible to be nearly omniscient and have the ability to predict the probability of every event within a second of the previous one with up to 80% accuracy. 1
Bhathen Posted December 3 Thanks @Taomeow This is one HIndu panchang site: https://www.drikpanchang.com/panchang/day-panchang.html?geoname-id=5391811 It's been sometime now, so I don't remember the exact sites used to compare the dates in detail also my knowledge is very limited.

Very very interesting to read such a dense paragraph of sense… I do however have one question, do you think all the calendars and measuring systems the Chinese have are available to us. I didn’t verify but I heard some time ago that there is much we don’t have access in in the west. I can’t really believe this holds true, but I never verified it. I received some gifts once , a lo pan and couple of other items that were apparently more legit than most. it seems you have likely gone down this rabbit hole and come out the other end. I wonder what you could share about it. I’d much appreciate reading your opinions and findings. blessings 🙏
