Has anyone heard "  if it's written in the Bible or must be true " ?

Is everything in it true ?

If not , what is or isn't true. ?

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ( NIV )

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God a may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

God-breathed = "divine inspired"

Yeah I know what you mean. I’m interested to hear scholars talk about it. That have studied and verified documents from the period when this stuff supposedly happened.

those that have done the work to piece together different accounts from surrounding areas/empires that corroborate the story. That really helps and there is loads of that with the Bible.

There is loads of that with Christianity, after Jesus for example and how the earliest churches where established.

I think it’s really helpful to get to know about the first few hundred years after Jesus and what was happening with all the sects springing up, and finally the formation of the church as one unified force.

There’s good and bad as there is with every tale.

it helped my beliefs strengthen when I stripped it to the core of the Beatitudes and realised that basically our values in the west (largely taken for granted) was built on this.

And it took a radical and fierce underground movement 15-20 generations and hiding as Christians to preserve this very simple set of ideas.

Thinking as an adult I have to have respect for these ideas, Jesus and the radical movement he created.

As well as the fact the message and the Symbol (be it cross or fish) has survived all these years as possibly the most well know story of all time.

That holds true for me. Really worth listening to historians though, legit ones are hard to find but you will find them if you search. If your not sure about your faith I wouldn’t listen to religious speakers, the language they use will probably put you off

if your not familiar with the concepts and their purposes.

Just get down with the history and it will start clicking into place but by bit. Stay on the fence as long as you can. You will learn a lot…
