Everything is find with zhan zhuang and zi fa gong but not Circle walking? I think the issue is very cleared the problem is your pinch nerve in the spinal. Any wrong move will trigger your pain. In the Zhan Zhuang position, you are standing up straight probably there was no stress to trigger the nerve that cause the pain. When you do the circle walk and have your body turned will trigger the area in pain. Can you describe how were you doing the Zi Fa Gong?

Actually I am doing a Yin Style Baguazhang that doesn't include the eight mother palms and only involves a forward piercing palm along the line of the circle ( so not much twisting) The Zi Fa Gong came by itself when I reached two hours of zhan zhuang, I did not do any special practices to trigger it if that's what you're asking. It seems to calm down if I let my breath roll down through my spine into my feet, but if my breath is off or I tense up then I start to bounce off. I also notice if I focus on the dantian then pressure would build up ( bad pressure from my POV) and I would jump back and fall over usually with some form of screaming to relieve the pressure. I apologize perhaps I worded it incorrectly, I am still confused on the whole thing. I am wondering if my Zi Fa Gong is an indicator of a deeper set of problems, that's what I needed help with. Because while it seems to help me improve my health and kung fu skills, it's also seemingly increasing my body's susceptibility to blockages.

I don't think you know what Zi Fa Gong is and you are not practicing it. Besides, by the way that I understand about Qigong, it is not and should not affecting you in any way. So, stop worry about it. Edited October 31 by ChiDragon

If that helps gives you any further insight, then I'd love to hear them either way thank you for your time.

You should stand still and bend your knees not to pass your toes. Is that what you were doing?

Is that what you were doing? Yes, I stood in a static posture without attempting to move or do any visualization. I did this first for 1 hour and then to two hours and then my body started to move by itself without me attempting to stop it. What I will note is that it didn't seem to make me tired and actually improved my kung fu and fajing skill in alot of ways.

tianzhang Posted October 31 Just now, ChiDragon said: Then, how did it stop? Hmmh? It didn't, it's still an on-going process. If you're asking how I stop the movements then I have to just shake it off and stop, it also seems to now start outside of qigong if I breath through my nostrils the breath physically travel from my nose and wave down my spine causing it to wave then to the bottom of my feet.
Gerard Posted October 31 23 hours ago, tianzhang said: Hi so a quick background on me, I have been practicing Baguazhang and Xingyiquan for 1.5 years about now. You can't expect serious results as a beginner. Quote My questions are : A.) Does anyone have any idea of what's going on inside my body? Is the Qi trapped due to my structural annomalies? Blocked like most people. It's normal. Quote B.) Is this due to my pelvic floor syndrome or my jaw structure? Answered above. Quote C.) If it's due to my jaw structure in some way would I need to fix this via surgery to continue? Thank you. Surgery won't do anything. The meridian and joint opening ability of BGZ + foundation work is unmatched. It takes years of daily practice not 1.5 Quote PS : I have also went to see a Chinese Medical Doctor who specialized in Qi healing and he said that there was a nerve block in my pelvic area which is likely causing the spontaneous movements but his advice to focus on the dantian while standing just worsened the issue. Focus on dantien? Hocus pocus kind of practice. Move on. Supplement your practice with the ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF GROUNDING you ought to do from now on. Here's today's foremost authority on grounding and foundation work: https://m.youtube.com/@HeJingHan-Baguaquan-Taijiquan/videos Try go back as early as you can because he has been posting vids since 2005. Also to be practiced daily throughout the day: https://youtu.be/ASlrYhcCySg https://youtube.com/shorts/gZEAT-kwGNY?si=2pNqR5Kkg6q2IJ9i Use kettlebells and/or pole assisted squat to help you getting started if your body-mind is stiff, which is naturally the case due to modern lifestyle. In the narrow stance squat, go down ver slowly and stet in the squat position as long as you comfortably can.

Gerard Posted October 31 No but he is the guy I learnt many of his very useful grounding exercises. Your problem is excessive Wood movement which is blocking the normal flow of the Liver & Gallbladder meridians: 1. Chair sitting 2. Not enough daily movement, eg. regular walking 3. Excessive mental activity 4. Computer work and/or study if applicable in your case 5. Likewise sexual activity which will worsen the condition if born in a fire or earth year and being born under Horse or Goat sign; eg born in 1966 to 1969, 1976 to 1979, etc. You need to be patient and persistent and able to cope with the releasing power of circle walking. A lot you'll release and it's painful and hard work. Ability to endure pain and hard work is a MUST in order to succeed.
Gerard Posted October 31 The first video shows a hip opening exercise. it's very good. You keep switching from leg to leg by twisting the torso and keep going in a zig-zag fashion for as long as you can endure. https://baguaquanlessons.com/2021/02/27/20210227-the-hip-opening-exercise-correction-and-general-lessons/

Don’t bother with this. @tianzhang if it’s the circle walking causing it, just stop doing it for a while and see if it helps

Someday, people will realize that talking a lot about something does not equal competence, knowledge, or skill. Talking is just talking. I would personally avoid people who talk too much, as this would mean instability, deviations on the level of "Vishudha chakra," and lack of intelligence.

Lukks Posted October 31 (edited) @-ꦥꦏ꧀ ꦱꦠꦿꦶꦪꦺꦴ- @Cobie @Neirong are yall saying that Damo is not a reliable source? I just want to know your opinion about him, I've seen only a few people saying that he is not that good, I'm curious, can you elaborate more? Once I saw a guy who claims that he(Damo) is not that advanced as a practitioner, he only got to a certain level in his training and then started teaching others. So now I think his heart is in the right place. Edited October 31 by Cobie
