Like a set of nested balls, one inside another, inside another, inside another, etc. The human-soul is in the lower-middle section of all of those nested spheres. The valence designates inner-journeying ( towards the center of the spheres ) as contrasted with expansive-journeying ( away from the center of the spheres ). See it? When the pentagram is reversed, the human form looks like it is diving into a swimming pool. The evil pentagram, is neither of these. It has no valence.
