Why don't people protest for the pursuit of biological immortality, free cryonics, and the acceleration of medical research, even though it would lead to people no longer dying?

Sometimes people are convinced that nothing can be changed and that science is useless. They believe that the idea of science finding solutions is akin to religion or esotericism. In the book Harry Potter, Immortality, and the Conspiracy of Psychiatrists, there is an example where people persuade psychiatrists to share such opinions (without revealing their profession or the purpose of their statements) with those who disagree with them. I’d like to hear your thoughts on the reasons behind such a situation. Perhaps someone knows an explanation as to why there are still no rallies for immortality?

This is not big money, there are returns too?   But why pressure the government in such an indirect way?    Anyway I believe many rich and powerful people all over the world are spending 100 times and probably more per annum to prolong their lives.   It would be useful to share their findings and experiences.

 

As to movie and immortality, I think we have watched too many immortals, vampires stories that have very long lives, and the difficulties they encounter in the modern world.

Over 20 years ago , a specialist doctor offered me medication for my 'condition'  . He said it might make me more physically comfortable but the side effects where not good and the benefits  would include prolonging my life maybe another  5 years in a nursing home when I get older .

 

5 years staring at the ceiling  ?  No thanks .  I'll put up with the physical discomfort . Well, he changed totally after I said that ;

"Off the record ;  glad to hear it ! It just uses up or facilities and staff . So many people are scared of dying  .  You might have  another good 20 years left anyway . "

When people ask how I am going I say 'Great !   Aside from the physical , but I value my healthy psychology and outlook and life view much more than that ! "

 

I have said it before ;   I live in one of the best countries and in one of the best areas in that country . people pay a fortune to come and stay here for a few days or a week a too , once a year . Its their reward for working hard all year and having to live elsewhere .   residents have all sorts of facilities ,  potential fun, pristine nature from forest to beach, healthy food , services ,  etc etc . yet we have one of the highest levels of anti-depressant medications being distributed (per population ) in the state .

With the aging population, people tend not to be afraid of death these days.   But they are generally having fear towards the last 10 years, seeing plenty of examples on the horrors of sickness and aging.

I swim when ever I want - no crocs .   I had a lovely beautiful big snake visit the other week ,

 

 

If they feel cold, they will curl up on your lap for a cuddle

 

Result ? the possum got frightened and ran away  ( she came back later ) .   I fear tourist drivers this time of year more than 'great whites'  .   And mosquitos  ......   yes, they are specifically an Australian issue      

 

What is more amusing is when these type of questions come from an American or Canadian , I often respond with , " Well, at least I dont have to take a shotgun with me to the outhouse ! "
