Peaceful Hulk Posted January 18 I train for both powerlifting and Olympic-style weightlifting, so I'm set for strength and muscle mass. I've been doing that for over two years. I don't do cardio though, other than walking from the parking lot to my work area. I wonder if others here lift weights, or does zumba. Or something. I justify my lack of cardio activity by occasionally fasting for a whole day. But still, a little cardio will do me wonders. Just busy.
RobB Posted January 19 I'm getting back into some kettlebells.
doc benway Posted January 19 My regimen includes running, walking, and martial arts (xingyi, bagua, and taijiquan). My martial arts workout is just that, a workout. I don't train with others anymore, although I did for decades. I rotate the different workouts so as not to traumatize the aging body, especially the running. I've also started to add some weightlifting but I've never had much patience for it. I find that doing some qigong after my workouts really helps minimize injury and soreness (8 brocades primarily). Sanity Check Posted January 20 Did anyone else try to come up with their own training routine after seeing hong kong kung fu movies from the 1970s / 1980s? Does anyone remember the scene from JCVD's Kickboxer where they tie ropes to his legs to make him do the splits? One of my co workers young cousins and his friends did that & wound up hospitalized. Maybe that's one of the reasons hawaii has more fighters in the UFC per capita than anywhere in the world.
MBZ Posted January 20 Curious where you got those Hawaii UFC stats?

ChiDragon Posted January 20 (edited) I do Taiji once a day, rain or shine! Taiji sword once a week and Taiji saber twice a week or whenever the weather permits to do it outside. P.S. Ever since, I have reached chi to the lower dantian, I have been doing slow deep breathing as my natural and normal breathing. It seems to be the most effective way to enhance my immune system. I hardly get a cold since then and have a high resistance to cold temperature! Edited January 20 by ChiDragon
Sanity Check Posted January 21 (edited) 5 hours ago, MBZ said: Curious where you got those Hawaii UFC stats? Population of hawaii is around 2 million. How many UFC fighters from hawaii have you seen? Maybe 50+? Where in the world produced that many cage fighters with a population that small? Dagestan with its population of 3 million is the only place that comes close. Heading into the future, dagestan will probably own that stat. But atm I think hawaii still has it. Edited January 21 by Sanity Check
