Software issues.

I don't know if there is a glitch or if someone is spamming a topic in the Rabbit hole, but several copies of a new topic popped up

That's happening because when you press "submit reply" nothing seems to happen...and you keep pressing it...and then the system uploads all at once.

That's how it was today. Been trying to open the website from morning. The website has been very glitchy for the past 4 days.

Very little, software has needed updating for years.

It was always above my pay grade and comfort level.

Present admin could perhaps take the initiative to update the software if they are feeling ballsy and capable. 

@sean has been absent for a long time. 

The worst he could do is ban a few of us or shut the site down...

Invision has no oversight at all.

The owner has purchased a license from Invision. 

 

All that needs to be done is perform a software update. It's easy!!

 

The owner's domain name has been renewed for another years so I assume this site will continue.

Is the difficulty that something needs to be done with the software but none of the present mods or admin know how to update it?  I´have a suggestion.  What if we create a way for members to contribute towards a Fix-it Fund and then let a professional computer person make the necessary updates.  I would be willing to contribute a modest amount.  If we band together, I think we can easily solve this.

One must have a username/password to enter the system.

BTW, the owner renewed the domain name for another year. I have no idea who owns TDB anymore since there was a reference to Cambodia.

I think we should have an independent notice board just in case.  The notice board can tell members where is the temporary site, how to log-in etc.

Here's a potential banner - I used the low resolution banner off the website (the existing banner) but if I get a better copy of the background image I can updated it quickly now that the snake is ready. Let me know if you have any suggestions for changes, improvements or if I made any errors! 

 

 

I haven't been able to get to the site for two days and it is slow today.

I second Master Logray's suggestion of a backup communication plan it the site fails completely so people can get information on updates / stay connected / collaborate if a long term outage occurs. Reddit maybe? It's free and pretty simple to make a temporary sub people can post on (although people will need to create a reddit account). Or discord? Also free and fairly straightforward to make a short term discussion board on (although a bit harder to use/find than a reddit site).

If people want to, it can be used to connect and get info in the event the site becomes unusable. If someone has a better or preferred site to use, that is fine too! I wanted to see how easy it was to make a sub and see what tools the mods have access to anyway. Can be deleted once the site is fixed.

I'm trying to get hold of Sean through various channels. I don't want to upgrade the site without taking a full backup first, as there is the risk of potentially losing years' worth of content. Unfortunately, we don't have the option to create a backup from the admin console, it has to be done at the server level, which is hosted by Sean (and only he has access to it).
