Thank you for thinking about that before any decisive changes. That would be an a nightmare. I do believe a full backup is the first priority. The rest is, que sera sera. There were times when it was just banter, times when it was a god-awful mess, but there were also times when some of the bums used the site as an altar on which they made sincere and generous offerings to whatever powers, gods, mortals, immortals, spirits animate their souls. It's not out of the question that karmic repercussions of losing 20 years' worth of content from so many, some of it so genuine, some of it so emotional, some, so educational, etc., would haunt whoever might cause this for many lifetimes. (I'm only half kidding.)

Let me know if you have any suggestions for changes, improvements or if I made any errors! Thanks Jenn. I love the Snake logo. Fire (sign) and Wood (year) nicely combined. My vote is YES.

I was able to get in yesterday too, briefly, and then it was back to not working. Same thing today. A yo-yo pattern. Wondering which destination it will stop at a day/hour/minute from not, "working" or "not working." To and fro goes the Way.
Taomeow Posted February 7 P.S. Got my answer to "a minute from now" -- the very next click (on "unread content" ) took me nowhere.
Nintendao Posted February 7 is the LAMP just limping or is there a DDOS going on? I know how to read var log http if you need backup.
thelerner Posted February 8 Tonight the site is loading on my Mac in Chrome And Safari. Yay, and thanks to those beating the Machines into compliance.
Master Logray Posted February 8 Press the Activity tab is usually the slowest. While directly clicking on a thread seems slightly faster.

It is likely an issue on the server side. There’s no indication in the logs that point to a DOS/DDOS.

An update is necessary for solving errors that will compound over time.

dwai Posted Wednesday at 07:29 PM Are folks still getting the timeout issue? Things seem to have been better for the past 24 hrs for me.
stirling Posted Wednesday at 08:10 PM I've had a timeout today. Sometimes it seems to be fine for minutes at a time, then it can be non-functional. Wish we had another avenue for support. I admit that I tend to put my attention elsewhere when I encounter resistance here (or anywhere! ).

Jules did update the domain name for another year. Software still needs updated.
Master Logray Posted Thursday at 10:04 AM It is better but glitchy. It doesn't affect old and active members too much. But may deter new members. This is the long term worry.
