Thank you for thinking about that before any decisive changes.  That would be an a nightmare.  

I do believe a full backup is the first priority.  The rest is, que sera sera. 

There were times when it was just banter, times when it was a god-awful mess, but there were also times when some of the bums used the site as an altar on which they made sincere and generous offerings to whatever powers, gods, mortals, immortals, spirits animate their souls.  It's not out of the question that karmic repercussions of losing 20 years' worth of content from so many, some of it so genuine, some of it so emotional, some, so educational, etc., would haunt whoever might cause this for many lifetimes.  (I'm only half kidding.)

Not for me.  I was able to get in yesterday too, briefly, and then it was back to not working.  Same thing today.  A yo-yo pattern.   Wondering which destination it will stop at a day/hour/minute from not, "working" or "not working."

Press the Activity tab is usually the slowest.  While directly clicking on a thread seems slightly faster.

It is likely an issue on the server side. There’s no indication in the logs that point to a DOS/DDOS.

Of course it is a software issue. An update is necessary for solving errors that will compound over time.

Are folks still getting the timeout issue? Things seem to have been better for the past 24 hrs for me.

I've had a timeout today. Sometimes it seems to be fine for minutes at a time, then it can be non-functional. Wish we had another avenue for support. I admit that I tend to put my attention elsewhere when I encounter resistance here (or anywhere! ).

A little bit better, but I still also sometimes get the ‘timeout’.

Site is still glitchy. Jules did update the domain name for another year. Software still needs updated.

It is better but glitchy.  It doesn't affect old and active members too much.  But may deter new members.  This is the long term worry.
