Lairg Posted March 4 (edited) The process called the Dark Night of the Soul has lower reflections into the emotional processes. At first level enlightenment the initiate has on-going inner prompting mainly words and images. It is usually possible conduct a mental word conversation with the as-yet-unidentified patron(s). As the initiate learns to control the heart and thereby develop intuition, there comes a time when the patron steps away and the initiate must make all decisions with no help. That is the true dark night. (The usual Christian example is: my god, my god, why hast thou forsaken me?) The initiate learns that others must just put up with his/her decisions - thereby learning to use spiritual authority and preparing for the use of spiritual will (atma) required for third stage enlightenment. Lairg Posted March 4 Matt. 27:46, “ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?” that is, “MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?” The death on the cross is supposed by some to relate to achieving second stage enlightenment - but that would offend modern theological positions
