From Nonduality to Qi: A Mystic’s Journey into Energy Cultivation

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! My name is Joey, and I’m excited to be here on Dao Bums.

Let me tell you why I’m here.

I’ve spent over a decade immersed in meditation, nonduality, and mystical exploration, and my path has been shaped by firsthand experiences that shattered my skepticism. I have studied and practiced nonduality for years, and have read and applied many Daoist quotes to my life, but I have never formally studied Daoism as a distinct tradition. At one point, I didn’t believe in any esoteric or mystical concepts. But after a profound, mystical experience and awakening nearly ten years ago, the doors to psychic perception, manifestation, and deeper consciousness states swung wide open for me. Ever since, I’ve tested and refined these phenomena, separating what is real from what is merely belief.

To give you an idea of my background -- I’m an author, researcher, and teacher in mystical and esoteric practices, with a daily regimen of meditation, visualization, and psi training. I work with remote viewing, telepathy, clairaudience, premonitions, dowsing, channeling, and more. My friends and readers know me as the guy who puts everything to the test. Through rigorous testing, I’ve proven to myself beyond doubt that the psychic and nondual realms are real.

Yet, even with all that, there was one thing I never truly explored: Qi.

An Ontological Shock

For a long time, I assumed prana, chi, and lung were symbolic rather than an actual force. Sure, I saw references to prana in Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism, but the practices I engaged in -- like Pranayama and energy visualization -- didn’t seem necessary for accessing psychic abilities. I had already unlocked many of these abilities before ever engaging in breathwork or prana refinement, so I assumed it was more of a conceptual framework or belief system than an actual energy.

But a recent discovery changed everything. Watching real faqi demonstrations, I realized that electric qi is a tangible, externalized force. That moment hit me like an ontological shock. I had already accepted the reality of psychic perception, but I had never seen something like Qi projection in action.

More importantly, many ancient texts suggest that the strength of siddhis (mystical abilities) is directly related to prana in the body. If Qi cultivation can enhance my existing abilities, then this completely changes my understanding of the mechanics behind consciousness. Could Qi be the missing key to pushing my practice even further?

The Big Question: How Do I Accumulate Qi?

So here I am -- not as a stranger to the mystical -- but as someone new to Qigong and eager to understand how Qi accumulation actually works. What excites me most is the possibility that proper dantian activation and Qi cultivation could amplify what I’ve already cultivated. Right now, I can access these states, but it takes effort, time, and deep focus. Could Qi cultivation unlock a more effortless, sustained connection? Could it be the key to unlocking more advanced faculties?

The Overlap with Hinduism & Buddhism

I find it fascinating how many Hindu and Buddhist practices mirror aspects of Qigong -- breathwork, visualization, channel purification, and energy circulation.

  • In Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Pranayama is said to clear the nadis, refine prana, and unlock siddhis.
  • In Vajrayana Buddhism, lung (qi) is cultivated and circulated to transform consciousness and enhance perception.

Yet, neither of these traditions explicitly describe faqi or external Qi projection in the same way. Why?

Some theories come to mind:

  1. Was the knowledge of Qi projection lost over time in Hinduism and Buddhism?
  2. Was it always hidden in esoteric circles?
  3. Or did they cultivate siddhis purely through internal refinement, without externalizing Qi?

While both Hinduism and Buddhism warn against chasing supernatural powers, they still document specific methods to cultivate them -- yet there’s a gap in knowledge when it comes to how to store and accumulate Qi. This realization has reignited my passion for exploring energy not just as a subjective experience, but as a tangible force.

Energy, Consciousness, and Invention

Beyond my personal practice, I’m also an inventor, and I have a strong feeling that Qi will directly impact my future projects. The intersections of energy harnessing, consciousness, and technology are limitless, and I can’t shake the feeling that there’s something profound to be uncovered here.

Where I Stand & What I’m Looking For

In the past month, I’ve devoured over a dozen books on Qigong and Neigong, but I know I’m only scratching the surface. One thing has become abundantly clear: the real methods for Qi activation and accumulation are not commonly known. Many seekers have spent their lives chasing false paths, while others guard these secrets closely.

My primary focus is not on Qi projection for external use, but on how Qi cultivation affects consciousness and psychic perception, and systematically testing what occurs when I have a full lower dantian, combined with my preexisting psychic abilities. Specifically:

  • How to activate the dantian properly
  • How to accumulate Qi in the dantian and store it for internal use
  • How Qi affects the mind, perception, and higher faculties

I want to test firsthand: If I accumulate more Qi, will my abilities naturally expand? Will they become more powerful? Will the visions become clearer? Will the remote viewing come faster? Will I unlock more abilities?

For context -- my abilities began spontaneously, without cause or effort. I wasn’t trying to develop anything; it simply happened to me. They’ve progressed over 15 years, and I’m now wondering: Would increasing Qi intensify these abilities?

I’m here to learn, to test these principles rigorously, and to engage with those who have direct experience in authentic Qi cultivation.

Looking forward to exchanging insights with all of you.

We are surrounded by Qi and the multitudes of non-physical entities that live in the Qi.

The entities can add to or subtract from our stored Qi.  Thus relationships with the entities may be more important than our personal store of Qi

My own experience of increased abilities is that often they result directly/immediately from friendly entities contributing specialized substance to my light-body

On other occasions such entities may point out that I can already do something - so I just do it.

Of course the friendly entities are only intervening when they think I can do something that is useful in the Oneness

Unfriendly entities may put fancy wrappers on their offerings.  Fortunately my sense of smell is improving.

Yes, multiple people. Me included.

Wow. So, were you taught about activating the lower dantian in order that it would store chi as well as the process to undergo to cultivate/accumulate chi? It appears to be that there are some elusive concepts in this field -- unless I am missing something -- the activation being one of them.

Yes, that is leave 1 in our practice:

“Level 1

The 3 practices needed to activate the dantians ability to store qi, cultivate qi, ground your energy and start to open and fill the channels. Two of them are standing and one is sitting and  requires about 40 mins a day.

This first couple of years are laying the groundwork and getting your body ready for the advanced version of neigong taught in the second level and should be done for 1.5 years before learning more.”
