Dan tien too tough

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a background in Reiki-  mostly practice on myself.  Recently realized that the energy centers that have been getting overload are really the 3 Dan Tians.  Have been practicing qi gong for several months, 10-15 minutes daily.   The thing is the worse part for me is in between excercises, when you bring your hands in front of your abdomen.   I have complete resistance.  It does not feel healthy to me.  Obviously out of balance.

My observational is that the excavation of the layers of the abdomen, opening tissues and channels, activating acupoints and alchemy ... is both really foundational + typically overlooked in the western-popularized-Daoist movement ... in past decades.  There's been a lot of improvement.  Anyway, a deep topic and I don't have any single solution ... my main point is that you are in vital worthwhile territory .. that sometimes is a long term project.  Keep a lookout for methods in this topic area, in many of the internal arts.

cheers,

Keith

Hi @Strong&free, can you describe what qigong are you doing?

In general I would say either do qigong or reiki, not both. That might be what’s causing you issues.

I do reiki and qigong with no issues.

@Strong&free you need to open up your leg channels.

The Dragon from Way of Power by Lam Kam Chuen is good for that.

In Ki-Aikido there was the assumption that if you got the lower dan tien inorder, the rest took care of themselves.  It was very hara oriented.

One easy practice I picked up from Stillness Movement qigong, a medical style gi gong, is when in seated meditation keeping your loosely folded hands against your lower dan tien, versus a few inches away on your lap I'd normally do.  Touching the dan tien in meditation helped me get a better feeling for the area.  Plus you're not doing anything, you just have your hands facing your dan tien, a light focus.

Something to try if it connects to you.
