Lozen Posted July 18, 2005 Are there any excercises to counter the effects of sleep deprivation? I mean, knowing that getting sleep is the ideal... but what would you use if you couldn't get any sleep? I am experimenting with warrior tea and with peppermint essential oil. I tried to post links here but when i went to my subscription page they are not there anymore....so the way I found them in the first palce was to search sleep and viola..... you got forums containing the word sleep... and some of them are pretty good. Lozen Posted July 22, 2005 It's not that I *can't* sleep, it's that I make these ridiculous choices like getting up at 4 and 5 AM to drive to Phoenix to train, and then getting up at 4 or 5 AM again the next day to harvest plants before it's too hot out. I also work late hours so am used to going to bed at 2 AM. Hence my dilemma. Why can't you sleep? 5534

Lozen Posted July 26, 2005 Why do you do things like that??? 5628 I really like this style I am training in, and it's not worth it for me to drive two hours each way unless I stay for both classes, which is 7:30-9 and 9-10:30. Luckily, I've been getting to bed on Saturdays and getting 8 hours before harvesting on Sunday. We have to get up early to beat the sun.
el_tortugo Posted July 30, 2005 Here is part of a matt furey email that fits in here. How to Zap Fatigue Within Seconds It's amazing but true. Most people get up tired and go to bed tired. Going to bed tired is somewhat understandable - but waking up tired is inexcusable. How can you be tired when you wake up. You haven't even done anything yet, right. Okay, perhaps you didn't get enough hours of rest. Or perhaps you got the hours of sleep, but there wasn't enough rest in the sleep. Or maybe you're under immense stress and this is affecting your energy level. All of the above is understandable - yet, it can still be overcome, and with ease. Let me tell you how you can take 5 simple steps to greater health and energy ... NOW. Here they are: 1. Before lopping off to bed at night, mentally program yourself for energy. How do you do this. Simply say 'I'm going to wake up totally energized tomorrow.' Why is this important. It's important because most people say 'I'm tired' when they go to bed and this leads to them waking up in the same mental state they went to bed with. 2. When you wake up in the morning, immediately focus on a big image of something you want to do, be or accomplish. 3. As you focus on this mental picture, tell yourself, 'I am going to do everything I set out to do today.' When you say this to yourself, say it with ENTHUSIASM. 4. After doing this, sit up in bed, pull your feet close to your buttocks and begin to massage the kidney point at the bottom of each foot. Start with your left foot. Massage deeply at least 50 times, then massage the right foot the same number of times. Doing this will amaze you. It will cause your energy level to rise ... and fast. Not only that, it is one of the cornerstones to raising your sekxual energy to a peak. This is covered in detail in my course on Chuang Shang de Gong Fu. Check it out http://www.chineseculturesecrets.com 5. When you're finished massaging the kidney points of each foot, raise your energy further still by doing some Hindu squats and Hindu pushups, as well as some deep breathing - http://www.mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html - or the Magnificent Seven, which attacks the waistline like no other program on the planet - http://www.mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html 6. After doing your training, take a cool to cold shower. The hot shower is fine to finish up with .. but start with the coldest water you can take. It will increase the vital energy in your body in an instant. Well, my friend, that's all for now. Kick ass - take names! Matt Furey P.S. Truth be told, I could have simply told you to do Hindu squats, Hindu pushups and so on to raise your energy level. At they will - and they do it immediately. But... here's the deal: I believe in strengthening everything on the inside as well as the outside - and what I have taught you today goes to the heart, soul and kidneys of the matter in a way that you've probably never experienced before. These six steps will blow you away - and ... when you add Combat Conditioning into the mix - LOOK OUT. You'll become the master of your Universe. sunshine Posted July 31, 2005 Sounds like he's just jumpstarting his kidneys to get them to turn some jing into qi. I mean, knowing that getting sleep is the ideal... but what would you use if you couldn't get any sleep? I am experimenting with warrior tea and with peppermint essential oil. 5478 the things i've done when i've not been able to get any sleep the night before or much sleep (under two hours) have been: make a huge jug of yerba mate and drink it throughout the time i have to be awake. drink as much water throughout the time i have to be awake. when i feel myself getting sleepy, i drink water immediately. avoid certain foods like cereal and bread, eating things that energize me such as tuna, veggies. smoking often (terrible i know) avoiding coffee getting a 30 minute nap sometime during the time i have to be awake if available (it's very hard to wake up from, but helps me tremendously) also, there's some yoga position (i'm not a fan of yoga so i have no clue what it is called) but you cross your arms and lean down onto them on the back of a chair. lowering your head and relaxing... it really does work. sorry i can't explain it better. i am realizing i didn't offer any advice other than what is probably pretty obvious to you already
mbanu Posted August 2, 2005 Coffee is said to produce "false energy"... just splitting your Jing leaving you with nothing and letting you spend your account more than you have of... just a thought Harry 5756 That's how almost all quick stimulants work, including system shocks, tea, sexual alchemy and kidney massage. No false energy, it's genuine qi. Technically it's actually jingqi, which some alchemists think is purer than food qi, sorta like clarified butter vs. regular butter. It's just a bad idea to squander your jing supply willy nilly.
Lozen Posted August 2, 2005 I dunno... I think coffee depletes kidney jing just like other stimulants... but I'm not sure kidney massage does. Hmmm...
